Recent News

A.J. and I start the show by discussing some of the more recent news and notes.

  • J.D. Martinez signs with the Red Sox
  • Eric Hosmer signs with the Padres
  • Rays trading even more pieces
  • Corey Dickerson was picked up by the Pirates

Second Base

We discuss our draft strategy for the 2018 season for how you should think about the second base position in your drafts. Where is the drop off for the guys you want to draft early?

Other questions we ask are:

  1. Are you targeting Dee Gordon knowing he will gain outfield eligibility at some point?
  2. Can Paul DeJong break the streak of the struggling MI of the Cardinals?
  3. Ian Kinsler struggled last year. Can he bounce back in a new home?
  4. Chris Taylor broke out, is this repeatable?

We then each give our over and under-valued players for the upcoming season.

Shortstop

Shortstop to some is deep and other is not. See how Dennis feels about it in this position draft strategy.

The questions we dig into with Dennis are:

  1. Do we expect first-half or second-half Alex Bregman?
  2. Elvis Andrus hit 20 home runs, is that sustainable?
  3. Can Xander Bogaerts regain the form he showed in 2017?
  4. Can Addison Russell finally make this the year he lives up to potential?

We finish our shortstop strategy the same as the second base, by giving our over and under-valued players.
