2017 Fantasy Football Week 9 Rankings

Holy smokes this was quite an exciting NFL Trade Deadline. We saw more trades than I can ever remember at the trade deadline. These trades are going to have a major effect on the rankings each week as the season goes on and they do this week as well. Let’s quickly break down each trade.

  • Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles: Immediately my mind went to his stock rising now that he is on a much better team. That may be true, but I’m hesitant to think he is a RB1 moving forward unless LeGarrette Blount gets cut. Now is the time to go grab in order Kenyon Drake and Damien Williams.
  • Jimmy Garoppolo traded to San Francisco: This won’t have any impact this week, as he will not start, but when he does start I think this helps the 49ers receivers a lot. Those owners of Pierre Garcon are relieved to know they have a capable QB now throwing him the ball. As for Garoppolo, I’m not relying on him in single QB leagues.
  • Kelvin Benjamin traded to Buffalo: I absolutely love this trade for Buffalo. They have been in desperate need of a play maker in the receiving corps. They finally get one with Benjamin. Now they can put Matthews in the slot and stop trying to rely on Zay Jones, who looks lost out there. This obviously helps Tyrod Taylor, but I also thinks it helps LeSean McCoy who will see less stacked boxes against him.
  • Duane Brown traded to Seattle: You don’t start offensive lineman in Fantasy Football, but this is an important trade. Brown is an immediate upgrade for a struggling Seattle offensive line. No I don’t think this make Eddie Lacy or Thomas Rawls relevant, but it will keep Russell Wilson upright more, which is a great thing for all involved with the passing game.

Lost in all of this now is the Ezekiel Elliott suspension that seems to finally be settled. He will miss the next six games. In moves Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris.

update Zeke is not suspended for this week.

Teams on bye this week: Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota, New England, Pittsburgh

2017 Fantasy Football Week 9 Rankings

Each week I will be giving some notes for things you will want to keep an eye on as the week progresses. It will be mostly injury related, but anything that could affect the rankings, that we know about, will be mentioned. Then you can come back and review the rankings as lineup lock get closer

  • Zach Ertz is a very surprise inactive this week.
  • Devonta Freeman dealing with a shoulder injury. He is tagged as likely to play right now. (active)
  • Mike Wallace and Joe Flacco are in the concussion protocol. Wallace is much more likely to play over a week removed from his. Flacco is tagged as likely to play, but with the hit he took that is shocking to hear. (both active)
  • Zach Miller is done for the season and perhaps his career after suffering a dislocated knee. When doctor’s say things like they “believe they’ve saved his leg” its not good.
  • Emmanuel Sanders was sidelined last week with his ankle injury, but is targeting a Week 9 return.
  • Kenny Golladay missed last week, which was a surprise. He is still being listed as week to week.
  • Leonard Fournette is going to suit up this week. (surprise inactive)
  • DeVante Parker is likely to play after missing three straight weeks with an ankle injury. (active)
  • Sterling Shepard will play this week after sitting out through the bye week. (active)
  • Big news on the defensive side is Janoris Jenkins is suspended. This is great news for Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp.
  • Jameis Winston‘s shoulder is still bothering him and is questionable to play this week. (active)
  • Corey Davis is expected to return from his hamstring injury. (active)
  • Delanie Walker is listed as week to week with an ankle injury. There has been a lot of talk that he will play. (active)
  • Jordan Reed is listed as week to week with a hamstring injury. He is doubtful to play in my opinion. (inactive)
