2018-19 Fantasy Basketball Week 14 Waiver Wire

Fantasy Basketball

This is the time of year when the waiver wire starts to scrape the bottom of the barrel. With lineup changes and injuries, it's common to see names like Jeff Green and Trevor Ariza on a weekly basis. While these are definitely not poor performers, it can be discouraging to not see names one may be more enthusiastic about.

Week 14 is now upon us, and as I have said, the best available additions may not be too exciting. Don't be fooled by this, as these players have the same opportunity to produce as the players available in past weeks.

As always, consider what statistics your fantasy team lacks before you make additions to your team.

Players listed are owned in 50% or less of leagues.

2018-19 Fantasy Basketball Week 14 Waiver Wire

J.J. Redick, SG, Philadelphia 76ers

The most recognizable player on this list, it's a wonder why Redick isn't owned in more leagues. He's one of (and has been) the best shooters in the game. Only six players this season have more made three-pointers than him, and he is averaging a career-best 18.3 PPG.

It should be noted that Redick has missed the last two games with back soreness, but he should be back very soon. Although he is owned in less than 40% of leagues on ESPN Fantasy, he may not be available in your league. If he is, add him immediately.

Al-Farouq Aminu, PF, Portland Trail Blazers

Aminu will never have flashy stats (currently averaging 9 PPG and 8 RPG), but he is consistent, and currently having the best rebounding season of his career. Being on a team with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, it's safe to say he will never be a reliable scorer. Despite this, he is easily a top 100 fantasy player who has an elite fantasy floor.

Aminu is more than likely available in your league. If rebounding is one of your lacking stats than he is your guy. His production may be quiet, but Aminu is a consistent player who can provide quality production in multiple categories.

DeMarre Carroll, SF/PF, Brooklyn Nets

DeMarre Carroll has been on fire as of late. In his last six games, he has averaged 18.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and three triples, while shooting 54% from the field. This has made him a top 100 player as of late, despite being ranked in the mid-200s for the season as a whole.

While this stretch may be temporary, a familiar face such as DeMarre Carroll should always be considered when he is on a hot streak. Due to his recent slumps, an addition of Carroll comes with obvious risk.

Thaddeus Young, PF, Indiana Pacers

The fourth seasoned veteran on the list, Young has averaged over 15 PPG, 7 RPG, and two steals in the past month. This makes Young a valuable asset to almost any fantasy team. He has always been a solid defender and will bring needed defensive stats often.

Young's ownership is low, with his current stats, he would be a steal if you can add him. If you are in need of steals and rebounds, consider him a must-add.
