2018 Fantasy Football Week 12 IDP Waivers: A Breakfast Club

on

Playoffs bells are ringing. Can you remember what your roster looked like on draft day?

Me neither.

What I do know is it’s time to time to load up on high potential stashes over any floor guys in season-long leagues.

Still duking it out for a spot in the dance? Make matchup based calls and swing for the fences.

This week we dove deep for high potential stashes who are on the brink of seizing some serious IDP points.

We’re fishing for REM level deep sleep sleepers this week.

In a way, we’re giving you a breakfast club of sorts to pick from. The potential is limitless.

A lot of young players, misguided, from all walks of life. Given some coaching confidence in the way of playing time, these players could deliver big.

But first…Don’t you, dare…. forget about these…I-D-P-pickups from the infirmary.

Week 11 Infirmary

  • The Eagles secondary is an absolute mess. It’s just warm bodies at this point with LB Jordan Hicks and CB Rasul Douglas joining the hurt pile. DB Corey Graham is back and worth a grand slam pick-up.
  • New York Giants DE Kerry Wynn is in the concussion protocol; Pick up DE Mario Edwards Jr. if you’re feeling luckier than a leprechaun.
  • Bucs LB Lavonte David is still nursing that sprained MCL; fourth-round pick out of Pitt LB Jordan Whitehead is worth a look after logging seven solo dolos in week 11.
  • The Green Bay Packers front line took a hit on TNF, losing DTs Mike Daniels (foot) and Kenny Clark. Bump the living hell out of LB Kyler Fackrell who we listed here last week; he has eight sacks and keeps garnering more playing time. Not so much enthusiasm for DE Montravius Adams, but I love the name. Montraviussss. He is. He is.
  • Chargers DT Corey Liuget tore his quad and is headed to the IR. DE Darius Philon is a stab in the dark, although he had 4.5 sacks last year and will be playing alongside DEs Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. Worth a hail mary stash.
  • With Denver Broncos CB Bradley Roby headed to the concussion protocol, a good time to remind all that S Darrian Stewart and S Su’a Cravens are both back and healthy.

Margus Hunt, DT, Indianapolis Colts (Knee)

Margus Hunt is a massive man making moves in a contract year. Unfortunately, this knee ailment keeps creeping up on him, leaving a massive Margus sized hole in Colts defense.

That’s where the 64th overall pick in this year’s draft is looking to carpe all over that diem:

Disengaging Taylor Lewan can not be a chill activity. But Tyquan Lewis is coming in fresh from the IR; last week was his NFL debut.

Taking Lewis in the second round and returning him from IR-R means HC Frank Reich and DC Matt Eberflus, a disciple of the School of Rod [Marinelli], are planning to unleash him. With a strong linebacking corps and a healthy-er-yish Malik Hooker behind him, Tyquan Lewis may be a sneaky pick for rookie breakout of the second half.

Please Bump: DT Denico Autry

Next Man Up: DT/DE Tyquan Lewis

Duke Riley, LB, Atlanta Falcons (Stinger/Neck)

Shout out to one of last week’s suggested waiver adds, Jeff Heath, for being twitter relevant two weeks in a row. Last week he was the GOAT. This week Jeff Heath came, saw, and got yak’d on by Julio down by the schoolyard. That’s Jeff Heath doing Jeff Heath.

Duke Riley doing Duke Riley is a whole lot like Jeff Heath doing Jeff Heath. Riley left last week’s loss against the Cowboys. His usage is trending down with his season-high 84% coming week 5. He is averaging closer to 40% over his past four games.

Enter in the Learned One, the Falcon’s sixth-round pick out of Yale linebacker Foyesade Oluokun.

A former high school teammate of Zeke Elliot, Oluokun’s usage continues to rise, peaking at 85% in week 11.

With ten total tackles (six solo) against the Cowboys, Olukon is a solid high floor pickup in all leagues regardless of Riley’s health or Deion Jones’ 2018 status.

Writing on the Wall: Riley was in on 20/22 (91%) special teams snaps. Olukon was in on four (18%).

Grab a potential starter while you can.

Please Bump: LB De’Vondre Campbell

Next Man Up: LB Foyesade Oluokun

Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups

Samson Ebukam, LB, Los Angeles Rams (Y! 0%, ESPN 0%)

Why the hell not? Right?

On that stage….in that game? Ebukam made a big boy play there. Cooper Kupp’s college teammate was also an FCS All American at Eastern Washington before the Rams plucked him the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Ride the wave. Just don’t be surprised if Ebukam goes the way of the Ogletree.

Malik Jefferson, LB, Cincinnati Bengals (Y! 0%, ESPN 0%)

At this point in my life, Marvin Lewis has been relevant longer than I’ve had a driver’s license so safe to say he’s a pretty common fixture.

This is a head coach that believes in Andy Dalton. That’s brutal. That makes me feel Chris Parnell’s feels in Anchorman when Ron drops the “Go f*** yourself San Diego” line. It’s doo doo butter.

Loyalty be damned, I am breaking with the obvious and I’m saying Marvin Lewis does the unthinkable and actually plays his young talent to see what they got for once.

And if it’s not to develop and further evaluate their own young players’ futures, then for the sake of all that’s holy, please do not let Hardy Nickerson Jr. out there again.

We as a people do not deserve that. The people of Cincinnati do not deserve that.

Malik Jefferson is as deep of a rookie sleeper you can find, but Bengals linebackers rack up points yearly. If he gets an opportunity, he’s worth a playoff stash for teams looking at first-round byes.

Anthony Harris, S, Minnesota Vikings (Y! 0%, ESPN 0%)

I’m sorry Mr. Sendejo. But there’s no place left here for you.

Anthony Harris has staked his claim to remain the starting safety and everything from his coaching staff to the numbers back him up.

Zone Coverage’s Sam Ekstrom breaks down Harris’ ascension including PFF grading him out as the top safety in the league since Sendejo missed his first start (Week 6).

With Zimmer’s high praise in tow, Anthony Harris, fresh off two Trubisky interceptions on SNF, could be that second tier DB you need for the playoff run.

Sam Hubbard, DE, Cincinnati Bengals (Y! 1%, ESPN 2%)

Third straight week. Go get Sam Hubbard. Five solos, a sack, and a TFL this week. Go get Sam Hubbard.

Sam Hubbard keeps getting better, and the opportunity keeps getting bigger. Sam Hubbard has oft confused Derek Carr and Oakland in week 15 and that gun-singling, motor-boatin, son of a gun Baker Mayfield and the Browns in Championship Week.

Sam Hubbard was born in Cincinnati. Sam Hubbard played at Ohio State. Ride the narrative!

Sam Hubbard.

Sam Hubbard.

Sam Hubbard.

After seeing the success the Redskins defensive line had against a Texans team who were coming off the bye, I’ve come to the conclusion that the whispers of Bill O’Brien’s incompetency hold truth.

The idea of coming into a season with such little depth to protect a second year QB coming off another ACL surgery made no sense. Also, this happened during last week’s game:

Not Good. Well, not good for Deshaun. Or Lamar. Deandre still gonna get his. Also, Titan’s IDPs are gonna eat enough to stream:

Titans 69-year-old DC Dean Pees, a man only Mike Vrabel could coax out of retirement, left last Sunday’s game feeling ill. We say the Titans rally around their DC and the anger of week 11’s beatdown and pile up some major IDP stats on Monday Night Football.
