2018 Fantasy Football Week 9 Injury Impact

Patrick Mahomes did it again. He threw for 375 yards and added three more touchdowns. This guy is just unbelievable, I was honestly skeptical; both when he got drafted and when he was hyped up after a few games.

When Mahomes was drafted, I felt like it was a mistake. I believed that they wasted a first round pick on a guy with fourth round talent. And boy, was I wrong.

Mahomes is truly spectacular. He continues to prove his skeptics wrong every week and this time was no different. His performances are nothing like we have seen before. I can’t remember a player starting his career this well and don’t think that it has ever happened.

Chris Carson, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Chris Carson left Sunday’s game in the second quarter. Carson was believed to have suffered a leg injury. After the game, it was evident that he injured his hip. This is the same hip he had previously injured.

Carson came into the game plagued by a hip injury. He was questionable, listed as a game time decision before the game. He ultimately played but left the game injured. This injury isn’t expected to be major and he is expected to miss a maximum of a few weeks.

After Carson’s injury, Mike Davis took over as the leading running back. This leads me to believe that he will be the starter will Carson out. Davis doesn’t have a ton of upside going forward. Although, he could be a potential streaming option. That being if you having a lot of players out.

Raheem Mostert, RB, San Francisco 49ers

Mostert began emerging as a complimentary back to Matt Breida. He was beginning to become fantasy relevant. This ended on Thursday night. In the third quarter, Mostert left the game and did not return.

X-rays revealed that Mostert broke his right forearm. He will miss the rest of the season. This will lead to an increase in touches for Alfred Morris.

I don’t see much fantasy relevance in Morris at this point. He is still a complementary running back in a subpar offense. I also feel like Mostert is much more explosive than him. For that reason, I would currently avoid Morris. There are other pickups that will be much more beneficial.

Chris Ivory, RB, Buffalo Bills

Ivory suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday’s game. He suffered this injury when he attempted to dive into the endzone. This could turn out to be a major blow for the Bills.

Ivory has started to look like a better back than McCoy. Today we saw this. Ivory rushed eight times for 36 yards. Whereas, McCoy rushed ten times for only ten yards.

There aren’t currently many stories about this. So it is hard to say what the severity is. I would look out for their to be more news coming Monday afternoon. If Ivory isn’t out for an extended period of time then I like him in all formats. He has just looked better and has been more productive in the past few games.
