We are not even a full week into the NHL season, but it is never too early to change it up!
The Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils, and Edmonton Oilers have only played one game, while the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks already have three games played.
The Dallas Stars are off to a hot start, winning their first two games by a combined score of 8-1. Their +7 goal differential currently leads the NHL.
2018 Fantasy Hockey Week 2 Line Change
There are four players with four points in the NHL already that are less than 50% owned in Yahoo Fantasy Hockey leagues.
Jordan Staal, C, Carolina Hurricanes – 20% Owned Yahoo
With three games played already, Staal’s counting stats are at the top of the league. He is averaging 19:18 minutes per game with 12 shots on goal. He has scored twice and assisted on two others. It helps that the Hurricanes scored eight goals in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.
Staal has also landed 13 hits,
According to DailyFaceoff.com, Staal centers line 2 with wingers Warren Foegele and Justin Williams. He also is on the first power-play unit.
Micheal Ferland, LW, Carolina Hurricanes – 15% Owned Yahoo
Staal’s teammate plays on the first line with Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen. Ferland came to Carolina with Dougie Hamilton this offseason in a trade with the Calgary. Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm were traded to the Flames. He had a career year in 2017 with 21 goals and 20 assists.
He averages just 15:07 ice time but has just one less shot on goal than Staal and plays on that first power-play unit with him.
Paul Byron, LW, Montreal Canadiens – 12% Owned Yahoo
Byron is a third line winger, playing alongside Max Domi and Artturi Lehkonen. He is not on either of the power play units, according to DailyFaceoff.com.
Montreal has played two games and Byron leads the team in points. He only has five shots on goal and there is slim to no chance he can sustain a 20% shot success rate. Byron has also blocked four shots.
Thomas Chabot, D, Ottawa Senators – 45% Owned Yahoo
Chabot plays on the first line of defense for the Senators and is paired with Dylan DeMelo, according to DailyFaceoff.com. He is also currently on the second power-play unit and averaging 21:19 ice time per game.
The Senators drafted Chabot with the 18th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and he is just 22 years old. He was one of the more popular adds this weekend, if he is still available in your league he is worth owning!
