2018 NFL DFS Week 1 Team Stacks

on

The reigning NFL Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles host the Atlanta Falcons, kicking off the 2018 NFL season on Thursday, September 6th.

Sunday Night Football is not part of the main slate, so the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are also not an option.

Monday Night Football is a double-header, featuring the New York Jets @ Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams @ Oakland Raiders, removing all those players from the pool.

The New England Patriots (Tom Brady/Rex Burkhead/Chris Hogan/Rob Gronkowski), New Orleans Saints (Drew Brees/Alvin Kamara /Michael Thomas/Ben Watson) and Pittsburgh Steelers (Ben Roethlisberger/Le’Veon Bell James Conner/Antonio Brown) are going to be popular stacks week 1 and cost you nearly 50% of your budget.

Let’s take a look at some other team stacks that can help you take down a GPP!

2018 NFL DFS Week 1 Team Stacks

Minnesota Vikings vs 49ers

Where do we even begin? This team offers so many stack variations, you will have to be careful in picking the right one (or two). Murray is always a threat to vulture touchdowns away from Cook. The 49ers run defense is not good, but their secondary is. San Francisco’s pass rush is average.

Minnesota’s implied team total is 26.5 points as they are 6 point favorites with an O/U of 47.

The optimizer says Cousins/Thielen/Rudolph is the best combo, spending big at RB and using value plays at WR. However, the 49ers secondary is the strongest part of their defense. I would want Cook or Murray in my Vikings stack.

Tennessee Titans @ Dolphins

Much like the Vikings, the Titans give you multiple options and a number of different combinations. The Dolphins run defense could be the worst in the NFL in 2018 and Tennessee should be able to show off their explosive duo in the backfield week 1. Are you willing to play two RBs from the same team?

When you lock in Mariota/Lewis/Walker you can add Kamara/Brown and another top tier RB, plugging in some value plays at WR!

Cincinnati Bengals @ Colts

The Bengals could put up big points against a poor Colts defense, with potentially the worst secondary in the NFL. Vegas has the Colts at home favored by 3 points with a 47 O/U. I do not believe the Bengals will be held to ~21 points. I think this game easily goes over and the Bengals win!

This trio allows you to add a top tier RB/WR as well as a 2nd tier RB/WR, thanks to Dalton’s price tag. You could even play Gronk if you stack Cincy!

San Diego Chargers vs Chiefs

People will see this as a viable stack, but the Chargers average just 12.86 points per game against their division rivals over the last 4 years and have not beat them since 2013. I was one of those people who wanted to play the Chargers studs, but now am reconsidering as history says don’t do it!

It could be a contrarian play though as people might fade them since the numbers suggest it. The O/U on this one is 47.5, the highest on the slate outside of the Pats/Texans (51) and Saints/Bucs (49.5).

This trio still allows you to add a tier 1 RB/WR and matchup against a not so great Chiefs defense. However, if I do end up playing a Chargers stack, I think I am going to spread the money around.
