2018 NFL DFS Week 9 Team Stacks

I am not sure if we were introduced to San Francisco 49ers QB Nick Mullens on Thursday Night Football, or reminded of just how bad the Oakland Raiders are. Either way, let’s just be grateful that we won’t lose a GPP jackpot to that random person who decided to start Mullens – had the Niners been part of the main slate.

The Green Bay Packers/New England PatriotsAaron Rodgers vs Tom Brady – Sunday Night Football showdown will also not determine the winner of main slate GPPs.

On top of those teams/players not being available, the Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars are all on bye weeks.

In what will prove to be yet another weird DFS week, it’s safe to assume players will be all over the Los Angeles Rams (Jared Goff/Todd Gurley/Robert Woods) @ New Orleans Saints (Drew Brees/Alvin Kamara/Michael Thomas) matchup. The over/under of this game is 60 points.

Another popular play will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Ryan Fitzpatrick/Mike Evans/DeSean Jackson/O.J. Howard) @ Carolina Panthers (Cam Newton/Christian McCaffrey/D.J. Moore/Greg Olsen) matchup. This game has a 54.5 point over/under.

Let’s take a look at some other team stacks that can help you take down a GPP in Week 9!

Make sure you take advantage of the DFS Projections and free lineup optimizer!

Kansas City Chiefs @ Cleveland Browns

Patrick Mahomes
Kareem Hunt
Tyreek Hill
Travis Kelce
Chiefs DST

This is one expensive stack – at 42% of your FD budget, you are limited in filling out the rest of your roster. I had to remove Jermaine Kearse, Tre’Quan Smith, the Broncos and Bills defense’s after the first lineups were generated for personal reasons.

Your lineup is going to require a low $5k WR be it D.J. Moore or Courtland Sutton – or both of them.

Alvin Kamara also can be featured with this stack.

These guys will also cost your 42% of your budget on DK.

For some reason, the projections like the Broncos against the Texans – I just don’t like the matchup enough to play them, despite their low price tag.

The Golden Tate trade has opened up a ton of targets for Kenny Golladay/Marvin Jones – pick one of the Lions receivers. If you love their $5.5/5.3 salaries in a divisional game against the Vikings, go stack them with Matthew Stafford.

Golladay’s ownership will probably be sky high so let’s lock in Jones with the Chiefs trio. And to spice things up a bit, I excluded Kamara to see what other lineup combinations are out there.

You can pivot from Kamara to Michael Thomas with Nick Chubb and/or Chris Carson in your lineup

This game features the lowest over/under in Week 9 at just 37.5 points. The Bears have an implied total of 23.5 which means Vegas thinks the Bills will only score 14 points! With Nathan Peterman under center for Buffalo, there are tons of turnovers waiting to be returned for touchdowns by Chicago’s secondary.

Hopefully, Khalil Mack will play. He is currently a game-time decision, recovering from an ankle injury.

If you assume game script will benefit Jordan Howard in this one and stack him with the Bears defense, the optimizer says to attack that Panthers/Bucs game and stack Newton/McCaffrey as well.

The projections love the Bears ground game so much that even if you lock this duo, Cohen & Trubisky get added to your lineup. After excluding them from the player pool the optimizer likes a Saints mini stack with Alvin Kamara/Michael Thomas. Unless you are also going to stack Drew Brees, I don’t suggest playing both of them – pick one.

If you do decide to go with the Saints trio and the Bears RB/DST stack there are multiple ways to generate lineups, including one that features Travis Kelce at TE.

The projections love the Bears ground game so much that even if you lock this trio, Howard gets added to your lineup. After excluding him from the player pool the optimizer likes McCaffrey again. However, there was another lineup generated that I thought was interesting – playing Hunt and Kamara.

In order for this to work, you will need to pick the correct trio of wide receivers priced under $7k.

The pricing on DK allows for top receivers to be added to lineups with Kamara and even spits out a lineup that includes Todd Gurley.
