2018 Week 13 NFL Betting Pick-Six: Get That Bread!

on

How ’bout them Cowboys?? I have to eat my words from earlier in the season, again, as it is clear that the ‘boys have all cylinders firing….well, on defense, that is! Thursday night’s game against the Saints was officially the lowest-scoring Thursday Night Football game of the 2018 NFL season, so far, with both teams netting only 23 total points.

While the Saints are not necessarily known for their defense, they have also stepped up in recent weeks, and Thursday night wasn’t much different. Granted, I do think it was also due to poor play by the Dallas offense, but I have to give credit where it is due. And, both teams deserve credit for a creating turnovers and stops on defense.

Well, enough about that game, let’s get to the betting action for this weekend! Welcome to the 2018 NFL Week 13 Betting Pick-Six!

Against the Spread (A.T.S.) Picks

Buccaneers vs. Panthers – Line: CAR -3.0

The first time these two teams met, the fireworks were plentiful! I am guessing that high-scoring affair back in Week led to this weekend’s Over/Under being 54.5 (as of 9:30 PM on Friday night), but the three point spread is what I’m lovin’ about this match-up. Tampa Bay has too many inconsistencies, especially at the quarterback position, but they have been fairly consistent at protecting their house!

Meanwhile, Carolina only has one road win so far this season. They have too many weapons, though, and I think they will be able to manage covering this favorable spread.

Pick: The Panthers

Steelers vs. Chargers – Line: PIT -3.5

This game is going to be a tight one, and the 3.5 point spread is right on point! The Chargers will be without their bell-cow running back, Melvin Gordon, but his understudy, Austin Ekeler is more-than-capable as his fill-in for the remainder of the 2018 NFL Season.

Pittsburgh has been pretty strong at home, but Los Angeles has only one road loss so far this season. If the Chargers can keep James Conner at bay, and make this game one dimensional (albeit, it’s one of the strongest passing games in the league), they will have a chance to notch another road win. I think this game comes down to a field goal, either way.

Pick: The Chargers

Over/Under (O/U) Picks

Texans vs. Browns – O/U: 47.5

The Texans-Browns games is one that I’m very excited to see this weekend! Baker Mayfield has the Browns back on the winning path, and the defense has been strong the past few weeks, holding two decent offenses below 20-points.

That being said, they are facing a much more complete all-around team in Houston this week. And, the game is on the road, where Cleveland is only 1-4, with that lone win coming just last week. This will be a tough test for the young Browns, but one I think will end with a lower overall score.

Pick: The Under

Packers vs. Cardinals – O/U: 43.5

The Pack is still reeling from their Sunday Night Football loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and need to pretty much win-out if they want to make the playoffs. This week’s match-up against a favorable foe is just what the Cheese Heads ordered!

Arizona does have some quality talent at wide receiver between Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. David Johnson is still one of the top running backs in the league in my opinion, too. But, the Packers still have Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, and I think their defense is going to feast on rookie quarterback, Josh Rosen. Oh, and the Pack is also undefeated at home, going 4-0-1 in 2018.

Pick: The Over

Stacks (A.T.S. & O/U) Picks

Dolphins vs. Bills – Line: MIA -3.5, O/U: 40

After a five game absence, Ryan Tannehill was finally back under center for the Dolphins in Week 12. Had it not been for Andrew Luck‘s furious final drive, and Adam Vinatieri‘s last-second 32-yard field goal, Tannehill would have notched his fourth victory of the 2018 NFL Season.

In Week 13, Miami hosts the surprisingly-surging Buffalo Bills, who have won their last two games. Now, those games were against the lowly New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars, but a win is still a win! Meanwhile, the Bills are only 2-4 on the road, while Miami is 4-1. This should be quite an interesting divisional match-up on Sunday!

Pick:  Miami and the Over

Patriots vs. Vikings – Line: NE -5.5, O/U: 49.5

This is a huge game for both teams, as Minnesota is trying to catch the Bears in the NFC North, and New England is trying to continue their undefeated ways at Gillette Stadium. The Vikings are coming off an emotional division win against the slumping Packers. New England regained some confidence by disposing of the Jets in Week 12 after a tough, Week 11 loss to the Titans.

This should be a back-and-forth, knock-em-down shoot-out, but I do expect the defenses to step up and keep the final score in-check. New England’s only close home game in 2018 came against the high-powered Chiefs. The Vikings are good, but they aren’t “Chiefs good,” so I like the spread in New England’s favor.

Pick:  New England and the Under
