Weekly Schedule (January 13 to January 19)

Two games: CHA, MEM, WAS

Starts For The Week

Thaddeus Young, Chicago Bulls, SF/PF (35%)

Wendell Carter Jr. went down with a nasty ankle injury and will miss quite a few games. Young will be the main beneficiary of Carter’s injury.

When Young gets 20-plus minutes in a game he averages 10.3 points, he’ll definitely get more 20 minutes. The last time Young played 30-plus minutes, he scored 15 points. The increased workload is going to make Thaddeus Young an excellent streaming option for Fantasy owners.

Young has four games, Boston, Washington, Cleveland, Philadelphia in Week 13 and each team plays into strengths of Young.

Last time Young played the Celtics, he scored 12 points, dished out three assists, and grabbed two rebounds. The Celtics are allowing 43.8 Fantasy points to PFs per game this season.

The Wizards have allowed 24.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.2 to power forwards per game.

Last time Young played the Cavaliers, he posted 14 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Cleveland is just as bad as the Wizards when guarding power forwards. They’ve allowed 23.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Young has been a beast against the Sixers throughout his career. He averaged 15.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for his career against Philadelphia.

Anfernee Simons, Portland Trailblazers, SG (4%)

Portland is riddled with injuries. Their bench players are getting key minutes in games, and Simons has been productive with those minutes.

In his previous 10 games, Simons averaged 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

Portland has three away games in Week 13, which is where Simons shines. In road games, he averages 22.8 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. Simons has the chance to post a more impressive stat line against his Week 13 opponents, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, and Oklahoma City.

In his previous game against the Rockets, Simons provided 10 points, two assists, and one rebound to Fantasy owners. Houston has allowed 44.8 Fantasy points, 25.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists to shooting guards.

The Charlotte Hornets have a dismal 113 Defensive Rating. Plus, they are allowing 21.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists to shooting guards this season. Simons will have a huge game off the bench against the Hornets.

Dallas will be a tougher matchup for Simons, but the Mavericks have a so-so defense (108.6 Defensive Rating), so Simons has a chance for a decent game.

There is no wing defender on the Thunder that should scare Fantasy owners from streaming Simons. There’s a high probability that Simons will have a few matchups against Terrance Ferguson, who has a 123.8 Defensive Rating against the Trailblazers.

Aron Baynes, Phoenix Suns, C (34%)

Frank Kaminsky will be out for at least four weeks which means more starting minutes for Baynes. Especially when you consider the fact that the Suns don’t go deep on their bench.

In his last five games, Baynes averaged 10.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. He poised to be a double-double machine in Week 13 against the Hawks, Knicks, and Celtics.

Atlanta can’t defend the rim, hence all the rumors of them trying to trade for Andre Drummond. The Hawks have allowed 22.9 points, 14.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists to centers.

The last time Baynes faced New York, he scored 20 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Baynes is inline to walk away with two double-doubles in Week 13.

Sits For The Week

PJ Washington, Charlotte Hornets, PF/SF (61%)

The Hornets only have two games in Week 13 and one of those games is against the Nuggets.

The Nuggets have a 106.9 Defensive Rating and destroy all post players. Plus, Washington will be a liability if the Hornets are trying to win that game.

In his previous five games, Washington had 14 turnovers and 15 personal fouls. That is a ton of extra points for the opponent. Nothing gets a player on the bench quicker than giving the opponent free buckets.

Washington’s poor ball handling is going to prevent him from making any contributions for his Fantasy owners in Week 13.

Tristan Thompson, Cleveland Cavaliers, PF/C (79%)

The Cavaliers are a dumpster fire and Sexton and Love should be the only players started. Everyone else on the team should ride the bench because they are playing like a bunch of slugs (see what I did there?).

In his last five games, Thompson averaged 8.6 points, 13.2 rebounds, and shot 36.1 percent from the field.

The Cavaliers will be on a road trip (Lakers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Bulls)in Week 13 which is even worse for Thompson’s owners because his rebounding goes down on the road (9.4 rebounds).

Avoid Thompson, he has to face three teams in the top ten in defensive rating and is less productive on the road.

About Travis Argo

I'm a die hard fan of teams that constantly disappointment me every season. So, I write about fantasy sports to forget my sorrows. That's hard sometimes because I'm a Pacers correspondent for I also recently graduated with honors from UNCC. Go Niners...I guess.
