Four games: ATL, BOS, BKN, CHI, DEN, DET, HOU, IND, LAC, LAL, MEM, MIN, NOP, NYK, OKC, ORL, PHX, SAS, TOR, WAS

Two games: CHA, MIL

Starts of the Week

Norman Powell, Toronto Raptors, PG/SG (51%)

If Norman Powell is available in your league, you need to add and stream him in Week 14.

Fred Van Fleet is returning from his hamstring injury, but the Raptors won’t rush him back to his full minutes. So, Fantasy owners have one more week to use Powell (or Patrick McCaw).

Like Van Fleet, Norman Powell is returning to the lineup after dealing with a shoulder injury. In his previous two games (since his return), Powell averaged 21.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and two assists.

In his previous five games, he averaged 20.6 points, 3.6 rebounds,2.6 assists, and shot 60.7 percent from three-point range. Powell shouldn’t have any trouble scoring in his Week 14 away games against the Hawks, Knicks, and Spurs.

In away games, Powell averages 14.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this season.

In his previous game against Atlanta, Powell posted 20 points, three rebounds, and one assist. As previously mentioned the Hawks can’t defend guards.

Speaking of teams who struggle to stop guards, the Knicks will have trouble keeping Powell off the scoreboard. The Knicks have allowed 24.2 points, 7.6 assists, and 6.5 rebounds to guards this season. After Powell slaughters the Knicks he’ll move his onslaught to San Antonio.

Shockingly the Spurs defense has been bad against guards. They’ve allowed 25.1 points, 8.4 assists and six rebounds to guards. Plus, the Spurs are allowing guards to make a high volume of three-pointers this season. All systems go for Powell to have a big game in San Antonio.

Shabazz Napier, Minnesota Timberwolves, PG/SG (8%)

Shabazz Napier is an under-the-radar contributor for Fantasy owners, and the owners who start him in Week 14 will not be disappointed.

Napier is the Timberwolves’ main point guard now that they have traded Jeff Teague to the Hawks. Napier will get increased workload improving his recent success in the starting lineup.

In his previous ten games, Napier averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.3 rebounds. He should increase his averages against his home matchups against the Nuggets, Rockets, and Thunder.

In home games, Napier is averaging 9.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 rebounds.

Napier’s first home game is against the Nuggets. Last time he faced Denver, he scored only four points but had five assists and four rebounds. Napier scoring will increase against the Nuggets since their defense is struggling. Denver was third in defensive rating in the NBA but now has plummeted to twelfth ranked defense.

Napier’s second home game is against the Rockets, a subpar team against guards. They’ve allowed 23.3 points, 8.7 assists, 6.5 rebounds to point guards. Napier will probably record a double-double against Houston.

A team that Napier could walk away with a double-double is the Thunder. He is averaging 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and two assists against Oklahoma City this season. The Thunder have allowed 23.5 points, 7.8 assists, and 6.8 rebounds to point guards.

If you are looking for a player to increase your assists numbers while adding solid scoring then Shabazz Napier is your man.

Jordan McRae, Washington Wizards, PG/SG (41%)

The Wizards have been winning more games since they’ve included McRae more in their offense. Coincidence? Probably, but you can’t deny that McRae has been a valuable option for Washington.

In his last ten games, McRae averaged 19.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. He shot 40.9 percent from the field and shot 45.1 from three-point range during that span. McRae will continue this success in his home game against the Pistons.

In home games, he averages 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists this season. So, Detroit needs to watch out.

The last time McRae played the Pistons, he scored 15 points, grabbed two rebounds, and dished out two assists. I don’t know if you have noticed but the Pistons have given up on playing defense and McRae is going to have his way with the Pistons defense. He should also have his way with his other opponents (Miami, Cleveland, Atlanta) in Week 14.

The Heat is tough defensively against guards, but McRae has overcome the Heat’s defense in their previous matchup. McRae posted 29 points, eight assists, and four rebounds in his previous game against Jimmy Butler and the Heat.

The Cavaliers have a terrible 114.6 defensive rating and they lead the league in Fantasy points to point guards. They’ve allowed 25.1 points, 9.3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game to point guards. McRae won’t have any trouble getting his numbers against Cleveland.

McRae won’t have any problem getting his numbers against the Hawks either. In his previous game against Atlanta, McRae scored 29 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out six assists.

Much like the Cavaliers, the Hawks are bad at defending guards. They’ve allowed 23.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per game to guards.

McRae has the potential to be a week winner for Fantasy owners, especially in category leagues.

Sits For The Week

Kevin Huerter, Atlanta Hawks, SG (62%)

As I mentioned earlier, Jeff Teague is returning to the Hawks, which is going to cut into certain players’ minutes. Here’s a clue it won’t be Trae Young‘s minutes. It will be Kevin Huerter’s minutes that will take a dive.

You might have noticed a theme in the “Starts” portion of this article, there was a lot of good teams playing Atlanta. You’re correct. Another reason why Fantasy owners should sit Kevin Huerter in Week 14 (or at least until they play the Wizards).

The Hawks first three games of Week 14 are against Toronto, Los Angeles Clippers, and Oklahoma City. each of these teams will make Huerter’s life miserable.

The Raptors are second in the NBA in defense with a 103.8 defensive rating. Against Toronto for his career, Huerter averages 7.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds. Very “meh” numbers.

The Clippers have a 105.8 defensive rating, only a few points behind the Raptors. His numbers against the Clippers are worse, 6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and two assists.

The Thunder are the opposite of the Nuggets. OKC’s defense is improving each week in defensive rating. Huerter averages 11 points, 4.5 rebounds, and four assists against the Thunder. But the way the Thunder are playing recently, I would start other options over Huerter.

RJ Barrett, New York Knicks, SG/SF (76%)

Just like Kevin Huerter, ‘s team is facing two tough defenses in Week 14, Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors.

I’ve already mentioned how good the Raptor’s defense is, let’s talk about the stoutness of the Laker’s defense. The Lakers are the best team in the NBA against guards. They have only allowed 37.1 Fantasy points to guards. Don’t expect a big game from Barrett in this one.

I’ll admit that Barrett has been a scoring machine this past month, but there are some inconsistencies in Barrett’s game.

He has 13 games with fewer than nine points; 35 games with fewer than four assists; and 18 games with three or more personal fouls. Consistency is something that this young player struggles with.

So far in January, Barrett has 20 turnovers and 18 personal fouls.

Scoring will be hard for Barrett against two teams that will force him into turnovers and force him to take fouls.

Fantasy owners can start Barrett against Cleveland and Brooklyn, but sit him against Toronto and the Lakers.
