2019 Fantasy Baseball Week 19 Drop List

This week’s edition of the 2019 Fantasy Baseball Week 19 Drop List features a high profile catcher who got bit by the injury bug and a player with a failed attempt at a position switch.

All of these players were worthwhile at some point this season, but things have turned for the worse.

Whether it be poor play, other players returning to replace them or off the field issues, it is officially time to move on from the four listed below.

If you want to find out who to add in their place, check out this week’s Waiver Wire post.

Willson Contreras, C, Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs have put Contreras on the IL with a hamstring strain.  There is no timetable for his return, but some say a four-week minimum.

This one hurts.  Contreras is one of the better fantasy catchers on the game and is heavily owned across the board.

With no return date in sight, Contreras could be out for the fantasy playoffs, rendering him useless to keep around in yearly leagues.

Joc Pederson, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Pederson has struggled to stay in the Dodgers lineup, now primarily only playing against right-handers.

He toyed with the idea of playing at 1B, to try to stay in the lineup, but that experiment failed miserably and did not last long.

With only hitting .175 over the last 15 days, it is safe to drop Pederson for a player who gets more regular ABs.

J.A. Happ, SP, New York Yankees

The last 15 innings pitched has not been kind to Happ, posting a 7.80 era during that span.

Now 9-6 on the season, with a 5.24 era, Happ has seen some better days.

Until Happ, gets that ERA down, it will be tough to roll him out on days he takes the hill.
