2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Steph Curry Preview

Welcome to the player preview series. In this series, we will be predicting statistics in all major fantasy basketball categories for players by team. Starting us off will be the Golden State Warriors with the 2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Steph Curry Preview.

The Warriors have a singular chance to go from the worst team in the NBA in one season to a postseason contender the next season. After breaking a metacarpal in his left hand during an early-season game against the Phoenix Suns, Curry played only five games in the 2019-2020 season. The return of Steph Curry will have massive implications for this Warriors team.

While Stephen Curry was out for all but five games in the 2019-2020 NBA season, he is first on our list of players for predictions in the coming season for obvious reasons: three-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, six-time NBA All-Star, six-time All-NBA selection, NBA scoring leader, NBA record-holder for most three-pointers made in a season.

What will Steph Curry look like next season and what sort of statistics do we predict for him? To begin, we are going to look at his stat lines for the five games he played this season.

Two things that do not age in basketball: height and shooting. Curry is the greatest shooter of all time. As he enters his age 33 season, his shooting ability will continue to carry him for the rest of his career.

When next season begins, Steph Curry is going to post numbers more closely in line with his averages from previous seasons. This Warriors team was depleted following the loss of fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson, who suffered a torn left ACL during Game 6 of the NBA Finals on June 13, 2019.

Steph Curry is going to deliver for the Dubs following a mostly-missed season.

I am predicting a minutes increase because the depth chart is thin at point guard. The starting backcourt of Curry and Thompson should see their field goals attempted & made increase with their point totals increasing.

Curry is one of the few players who are capable of increasing volume without sacrificing efficiency but I do predict a field goal percentage below 50 percent as he will be the main source of attention for opposing defenses every night.

Where To Pick Curry

Steph Curry should be a top 10 selection in any fantasy league for the 2020-21 season. His points per game averages, 3-pointers made, and 3-point percentage make Curry a must-have on your roster if he falls to your team.

He may not justify No. 1 pick selection as he did in previous seasons but his unparalleled ability to splash 3s and hit free throws consistently throughout a healthy season to go with good assist totals is going to win you a lot of weekly matchups.
