2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 12 Weekly Planner

Welcome to the 2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 12 Weekly Planner!

The NBA is back in full circle. A small intro slate on Wednesday led to a massive 11 game slate on Thursday. It was a joy to have the game we love back.

With teams and players slumping and players being shopped the landscape of the league looks bleak at the moment. Teams are trying to bull, sell, add and do everything they can for now or the future.

Teams like the Rockets are headed to full tank mode, for example on Friday the team had only eight active players in the game. Rumors of nearly half the roster including Victor Oladipo, John Wall, Eric Gordon, and PJ Tucker are all being shopped.

It's a fire sale around the league, which helps and hurts fantasy players. It's more important now than ever that you are studying, reading, paying attention to the landscape. Hopefully, this article is a starting point to help you win your league.

With all that said, let's dive in this 2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 12 Weekly Planner!

I'll be providing streams, schedule content, waivers, and much more in this article. If you're feeling really lucky, perhaps you can try your hand at some betting. You can also use this bonus code to get some extra deposit money.

Pickup of the Week

Kyle Kuzma, SF/PF, Los Angeles Lakers

On March 3rd, Kuzma took the floor against the Kings. He dropped 25 points and 13 rebounds without LeBron James and Anthony Davis. An impressive feature with or without the pair. He was assertive, aggressive, and flat-out dominant. With that said, he did the same thing on Friday night.

Aggressive, dominant, flashes of the 2018 Kyle Kuzma that we all knew and loved. He scored 24 points while adding in 13 rebounds in an impressive win against the Pacers.

A pure hooper going to work, it seems that we are witnessing a different Kuzma. That's exactly why I think he's worth a pickup. With Anthony Davis still on the shelf, Kuzma will need to step up and assert himself as the Lakers second.

With the Lakers scheduled to play five games this week, Kuzma makes a ton of sense to pick up. The Lakers scheduled slots in for a nice one for the forward as well. Four of the five teams the Lakers slot against are layups for Kuzma. Here is the list.

  • Warriors
  • Timberwolves
  • Hornets
  • Hawks
  • Suns

The Hawks, Hornets, and Timberwolves are absolute smash days for Kuzma, while the Suns present a bit of difficulty as they are one of the leagues top five defenses. The Warriors are a middle-tier matchup but I am not stressing that.

All and all, Kuzma slots in as a great pickup for me this week. Five games, easy schedule, newly found confidence, and much more make him an easy guy to slot in for a stream, especially with dual position eligibility.

Team to Target

Houston Rockets

Far and away the best team to target this week is the Rockets. The trade deadline is approaching rapidly and the decimated Rockets squad inches closer to shipping off key pieces. Not to mention they also have likely eight active players for the next week. Take a look.

Look at that starting lineup, filled with value and streamers for you to grab up off your waiver wire. Victor Oladipo, John Wall, Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, Christian Wood, and Danuel House are all out and may be a while for a few of the names. Oladipo, Gordon, Tucker, and House are all rumored to be shopped.

If any or all are traded it could open up just that much more value for a streamer. Guys like Kevin Porter Jr are top priorities to stream this week. On Friday, in his first start, the young gun absolutely dominated a defensively strong Jazz team.

Sterling Brown and Porter Jr top the list of players i want to stream this week, both are easily going to score 30+ points in fantasy per game with the log jam of injuries.

Looking at the schedule, the pair should have a great setup as well. The Houston squad gets to play the: Thunder, Hawks, Pistons, and Warriors. What a cupcake schedule, the Hawks and Pistons are jokes defensively while the Thunder and Warriors aren't elite but middle of the pack in their own rights.

With the schedule, injury rash, and projected trade rumors, it makes a lot of sense for you to stream guys like Justin Patton, Kevin Porter Jr, and Sterling Brown.

Team to Avoid

Philadelphia 76ers

With the news that star center Joel Embiid has been ruled out for 2-3 weeks with a knee injury, this statement comes as no surprise this week. The team has notoriously struggled without their star big man to help man down the court.

A punishing blow to a team that was starting to peak in a weaker Eastern Conference. Value with guys like Dwight Howard may open up, but can we truly trust an aging big with bad knees on a struggling team? No. And to make bad go worse, the 76ers schedule isn't pretty, take a look.

  • Knicks
  • Bucks
  • Kings
  • Knicks

Brutal schedule to say the least, two matchups against the Knicks are painful. The New York squad plays at the leagues slowest pace and is arguably a top-3 defensive team in the association. That's a recipe for disaster for a team that won't have their leader on the court.

Guys like Seth Curry, Danny Green, and Dwight Howard will struggle against Julius Randle and Elfrid Payton who are having career defensive seasons. The Bucks in themselves are also a threat as well on the defensive side. Players like Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are elite defensive players.

Those guys are long, lanky, and athletic. They are going to be nightmares for Howard, Curry, and many more. With a tough schedule, no Embiid, and a low upside team I'm fading the 76ers this week.

Who's Hot and Trending

Caris LeVert, SG/SF, Indiana Pacers

What a wonderful day of age we live in, we tend to take the small things for granted sometimes. LeVert however does not, the newly acquired combo guard was diagnosed with a very serious kidney injury. A potentially career-ending injury, it was rumored the veteran would likely miss all of the 2021 season with it and potentially longer.

But now, in 2021, the star combo guard is playing in his first NBA game since the injury. On Saturday, the veteran made his long-anticipated debut!

A beautfiul site, something you just love to see. The addition comes at a beautiful time for the Pacers. Before the trade, the veteran was averaging 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while playing most of his time off the bench.

Now, two months removed from basketball, LeVert is on the verge of a potentially historical comeback. His return could spell major implications for fantasy purposes. As of now, the Pacers need some scoring help, the bench is thin outside of McConnell and outside of Sabonis and Brogdon, the Pacers lack offensive threats.

LeVert could be the spark that the Pacers need to make it out. He is a must-add in all fantasy formats.

Kevin Porter Jr, SF, Houston Rockets

A rising superstar, a former 1st round draft pick lottery pick. After a disappointing career in Cleveland, the Cavaliers shipped him off for a measly second-rounder. A home run for the Rockets as they now are fronting an eight-man rotation. Take a look at all the injuries the Rockets have.

Victor Oladipo, John Wall, Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, Christian Wood, and Danuel House are all out and may be a while for a few of the names. Oladipo, Gordon, Tucker, and House are all rumored to be shopped.

The news has forced the hands of the Rockets to elevate the star front and center. He hung 27 points in 38 minutes in his first start for the Rockets on Friday.

The injuries, trade deadline, and so many factors are propelling the young man into stardom. A once washed young man is now turned star in the making. Porter jr is one of the leagues brightest rising stars and should be added in each and every league.
