2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 5 Waiver Wire

on

Welcome to the 2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 5 Waiver Wire.

The focus will be on players that are roughly less than 40% owned in Yahoo leagues with some over 40%. Make sure that you check your league’s availability.

I will try to keep each wavier wire column focused on new names, only touching on previous players if they may still be widely available.

With position eligibility being different in each league, this column will just reference the positions as a generic Guard, Forward, and Center.

Gary Trent Jr, G, Portland Trailblazers

Trent Jr. is about to play second fiddle to Damian Lillard in Portland and I am here for it!

Both CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic are out with injuries for the Blazers

Trent Jr will be relied upon to pick up the slack on defense and to be the second scorer.

He is already shooting over 40% from three this year (44.3%) and his stats should continue to climb.

Taurean Prince, F, Cleveland Cavaliers

Prince has landed with the Cavaliers after the blockbuster James Harden trade from last week.

His numbers are not that pretty right now, but he was also only averaging 18.1 minutes per game with the Nets.

With the imminent release of Kevin Porter Jr. and the praise from his new coach, there is a path to minutes for Prince.

If you need a boost in points and rebounds, give Prince a look.

Jeremy Lamb, G, Indiana Pacers

Lamb has been clear to play by the Pacers doctors and it could not have come at a better time.

Similar to the situation in Portland, both TJ Warren and Curtis LeVert are out indefinitely with injuries.

Lamb should enter the starting lineup and get all the minutes he can handle.

He averaged 12.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.2 SPG last season.

You can expect similar if not better numbers from him now.

Jarred Vanderbilt, F, Minnesota Timberwolves

Vanderbilt is still a bit raw, but he is starting to flash some potential.

When starting, he is averaging 14 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 2 AST, and 1 SPG.

He has little competition in from of him, and his minutes should increase over the next few games.

If he becomes a permanent starter, he will help owners in multiples categories.
