2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 8 Drop List

on

Welcome everyone to the 2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 8 Drop List.

I would like to start this off by apologizing for putting DeMarcus Cousins on here last week. I, like most fantasy basketball players, thought that Christian Wood would come back from injury and stay healthy. With Christian Wood struggling with the injury bug I think it is safe to say Cousins shouldn’t be dropped.

But enough with reflecting on my past drop failures, let’s get right into this week’s drop list.

As always I will be going over some players you should be dropping off your teams and I will also provide a few players that are in the danger zone. These players are very close to being on the drop list, you should be monitoring these guys throughout the week.

2020-21 Fantasy Basketball Week 8 Drop List

Blake Griffin, PF/C, Detroit Pistons – 68% Rostered Yahoo

Current Ranking: 250

Why is Blake Griffin rostered this high? He has yet to be ranked higher than 250 in category leagues and he is currently averaging 12.2 points a game while also adding only 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He is shooting just 36% too so it doesn’t look like this funk is going to end anytime soon.

He does absolutely nothing for category leagues. His blocks (0.1) do nothing along with his steals (0.6). I would drop Blake Griffin immediately.

I feel like he is only rostered this high because of his name. He hasn’t done anything else this year to really deserve being rostered in 68% of leagues.

Immanuel Quickley, PG/SG, New York Knicks – 43% Rostered Yahoo

Current Ranking: 174

It looked like for a quick second there that Immanuel Quickley was going to take over the starting point guard gig for the Knicks.

In the last three games, IQ has been averaging 14.3 minutes with only 8.6 points a game.

To make things worse the New York Knicks just traded for Derrick Rose.

Elfrid Payton, PG/SG, New York Knicks – 39% Rostered Yahoo

Current Ranking: 197

Elfrid Payton is on here again but this time it’s because the Knicks have acquired Derrick Rose.

Thibs absolutely loves Derrick Rose so I assume he will be playing a majority of the point guard minutes.

Elfrid Payton will no longer be seeing 30+ minutes a game which makes his value plummet. He was never really the one to stuff the stat sheet so if you are in category leagues I would suggest dropping him.

Other than his 20 and 22 point game, Elfrid Payton has scored 10 or more points just once since January 21st.

Marvin Bagley III, PF/C, Sacramento Kings – 72% Rostered Yahoo

Currently Ranked: 164

This one pains me the most to put it on here because I think Marvin Bagley is a good player but he just can’t figure it out for some reason right now.

Since coming back on January 27th, Bagley has only scored over 15 points twice along with only pulling down 10+ rebounds twice.

In the past week, he is only averaging 7.8 points a game on 41% shooting while adding just 5.5 rebounds.

For category league players he just doesn’t provide enough to be on people’s rosters until he starts to show more.

Danger Zone

Joe Ingles, SG/SF, Utah Jazz – 41% Rostered Yahoo

Currently Ranked: 148

Joe Ingles has been having a rough week and with him not really providing much value in category leagues, he has found himself in the danger zone.

In this last week, Ingles is only averaging seven points per game on 40% shooting.

He has scratched the surface of being in the top 130 in category leagues but he has found himself falling back into the norm and more around the 150 range.
