2020 Fantasy Football Week 10 IDP Start-Sit

on

Welcome back for a look at my 2020 Fantasy Football Week 10 IDP Start-Sit article! As we creep closer and closer to the playoffs it’s all the more important to set the winning lineup!

It’s time to dive in and review some great and not-so-great matchups in Week 10! The Starts this week have great matchups or are criminally under ranked in my opinion! As opposed to the Sits who have tough matchups, bad situations, and are players who I believe are way too highly ranked!

Note: ECR is the Expert Consensus Ranks of these players at the time of writing this article, but these are subject to change!

Starts:

DL: Trey Hendrickson, New Orleans Saints Vs. San Francisco 49ers

ECR: DL21 My Rank: DL13

As I mentioned in this week’s IDP Waiver Wire, Hendrickson has been on fire this season. He’s come out of nowhere to be a weapon on this defensive line.

Facing off against a banged up and suspect offensive line, Hendrickson finds himself in a good matchup this week. Pepper in the fact he’ll be set to tee off against Nick Mullens and you got a cocktail for success!

LB: Za’Darius Smith, Green Bay Packers Vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

ECR: LB47 My Rank: LB21

Oddly enough it was Smith that last week was able to tee off against the very same offensive line that Hendrickson gets to face this week. However, Smith finds himself in an even better matchup this week.

I’m going with the game script here and I’m guessing the Packers are going to get off to a hot start. With the Jags being down early I have a feeling Green Bay will be able to blitz freely with rookie Jake Luton under center.

DB: Kamren Curl, Washington Football Team @ Detroit Lions

ECR: DB60 My Rank: DB25

Kamren Curl is a guy I mentioned in the Week 8 Waiver Wire article heading into his Bye Week as someone that would be likely to fill the shoes left by Landon Collins. Boy did he fill those shoes in Week 9.

He managed that to the tune of 11 Tackles (6 Solo), 1 Sack, and 1 Tackle for Loss. Not a bad stat line for a seventh-round draft pick with big shoes to fill. I’m guessing the low ranking will be updated (after the “experts” read this article! Just kidding they ain’t reading this) at some point before kick-off on Sunday. However, I’m happy to reap the benefits of looking like a sharp for now.

Flex: Markus Golden, LB/DL, Arizona Cardinals Vs. Buffalo Bills

ECR: DL42 My Rank: DL16

For quick clarification, I like him much better as a DL this week than an LB if he’s DL eligible in your league. This week Golden will face off against a middle of the pack offensive line in terms of sacks allowed.

This game should be pretty fast-paced and feature a lot of plays ran by each team which should leave room for plenty of opportunity on the defensive side of the ball. Golden was able to play his first game back with the Cardinals and seemingly not miss a beat. I expect him to play 65% of the snaps which should leave him around 40+ snaps this Sunday.

Sits:

DL: Jonathan Allen, Washington Football Team @ Detroit Lions

ECR: DL18 My Rank: DL30

To be totally frank, the ECR Ranking is far too friendly and honestly, my own ranking might be too friendly. In my opinion, Allen is the Alfred to the Batman and Robin duo that is Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

Allen gets some pressure and occasionally he’ll record a cleanup sack but he’s just not a stat stuffer. If a DL can’t get to the QB he better rack up tackles. If he can’t do that he may as well be left to the Waiver Wire as opposed to my bench.

LB: Kenneth Murray, Los Angeles Chargers @ Miami Dolphins

ECR: LB40 My Rank: LB45

Murray was darn near my favorite rookie linebacker coming into the season. He’s been having an okay season but he was benched this past weekend in favor of Denzel Perryman. Those of you who have played IDP for a while understand the level of insult that was.

Head Coach Anthony Lynn left his reasoning to “communication issues,” and that they’ll see how this week goes. I love Murray but until this situation is resolved, he’ll be warming my bench.

DB: Vonn Bell, Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers

ECR: DB22 My Rank: DB34

Vonn Bell is a prime example of a player that the “experts” aren’t ready to abandon ship on. After doing little to nothing all season he still frequently resides in the top 25 at the position when players like Kamren Curl (ECR: DB60) come along and have a better showing in one game than Bell has had all season.

Oof, got a little spicy there. In all seriousness, Jessie Bates is the only Bengals DB worth rostering. Bell is best left to the bench, or to the Waiver Wire.

Flex: Josh Allen, LB/DL, Jacksonville Jaguars @ Green Bay Packers

ECR: DL23 My Rank: DL26

Not a huge variation in ranking here, but I really hate his matchup this week. The Packers just don’t give up sacks. Their play-action passing game freezes the DL just enough. Coupled with their low time from snap-to-pass, it just doesn’t give DLs much chance to get after Rodgers.

Not a darn thing against the player, but it’s been tough to roster Allen this year. Especially as a guy who’s been healthy for the most part and just not producing. I’m not expecting much in this tough matchup.
