Waiver Wire DLs

Olivier Vernon, Cleveland Browns

Vernon has made for a solid streaming candidate this season when offered a great matchup. The good news is, he draws the New York Giants this week.

The Giants have allowed the third-most sacks per game this season. Coupled with that stat, we all know Daniel Jones is very reckless with the football. This provides not only some upside for Vernon to get to Jones but also some turnover/big-play upside.

Justin Houston, Indianapolis Colts

Yes, yes. I know I’m on record as not being a Justin Houston fan, especially at this point of his career. However, he’s been able to show well in good matchups on occasion.

Justin Houston gets to face off against a Houston offensive line who ranks fifth in most sacks allowed per game. Justin Houston managed to stuff the stat sheet when he took on this offensive front two weeks ago and has a decent shot to make some noise again.

Leonard Floyd, Los Angeles Rams

Floyd is another player I’m on the record of not being a fan of. But when a player draws a great matchup sometimes we need to set personal bias aside, right?

Floyd gets to attack the New York Jets offensive line this weekend, and much similar to the matchup for Vernon, the Jets average the eighth-most sacks allowed per game, along with Darnold’s ninth-highest time to throw statistic. This should provide a matchup flush with opportunity as well as time for Floyd to get to Darnold.

And we all know Darnold is VERY careful with the football as well, and NEVER commits turnovers.

Markus Golden, Arizona Cardinals

Markus Golden draws one of the better DL matchups on paper against the Philadelphia Eagles. However with Hurts at QB there seems to be a shift in how good of a matchup they might be.

The Eagles, after letting Wentz get devoured behind a trash offensive line all season, seemed to have figured out to play football and keep their QB upright after surrendering ZERO sacks in Week 14.

It should be noted that the Eagles ran the ball a whopping 17% less than their season average coming into Week 14. It can also be noted that they were up fairly early on the Saints, and were playing to hold a lead, as opposed to playing from behind, as they have for most of the season.

Time will tell if this trend continues.

Waiver Wire DBs

Daniel Sorensen, Kansas City

Sorensen is another guy I typically don’t care for, but you have to give credit where it’s due, and when you have a great matchup incoming he’s worth mentioning!

This New Orleans offense with Taysom Hill is an interesting one, to say the least. They’re still running the ball a good amount, and working it to the intermediate part of the field where Sorensen tends to cover. He could be in for a busy day in Week 15.

Marcus Maye, New York Jets

The Jets defense as a whole draws a great matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Their high plays per game, high run to pass rate, and high yards per pass attempt statistic plays really well to the DB position.

Another player worth keeping an eye on here is Mathias Farley.

Rayshawn Jenkins, Los Angeles Chargers

Jenkins gets a divisional matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15. The Raiders love to run the ball and they like to work the ball downfield. These elements make Jenkins a great play for Week 15 if you’re in a pinch!

Kareem Jackson, Denver Broncos

Though I haven’t mentioned Jackson, he’s been having a quiet but respectable season. He hasn’t necessarily destroyed the stat sheets by any stretch but he’s shown well in good matchups.

Jackson draws a matchup against the Buffalo Bills this week. The Bills offer a middle of the row run-to-pass rate, but their high yards per attempt is what I feel will lend a good matchup to Jackson.

Waiver Wire LBs

Jerome Baker, Miami Dolphins

Jerome Baker flashed his big-play potential this past weekend while filling in for Elandon Roberts. If Roberts misses another game Baker has a great matchup against the New England Patriots waiting in Week 15.

The Patriots are one of the run heaviest teams in the league, coupled with their low yards per pass attempt all lend a great matchup to the LB.

Baker was given less and less of a role as the season went on due to his poor performance, but hopefully, this last week was statement enough to let Roberts recover for one more week.

Alex Singleton, Philadelphia Eagles

He may not be available since he’s been balling out down the stretch. But if he is YOU NEED TO GRAB HIM.

Singleton is as close to a sure thing in Fantasy Football right as death and taxes! He has a great matchup this week to boot! With Arizona’s run-heavy offense, and lower yards per attempt ahead, he’s set for another great game.

Neville Hewitt/Harvey Langi, New York Jets

Here’s a little bit of a twofer for y’all. Hewitt is very likely to be rostered, whereas Langi is more likely to be available. Both of these guys have been starting worthy down the stretch of the season, and that doesn’t change this week.

Squaring off against the Los Angeles Rams who run the second-most plays per game in the league, and along with that, they have a high run to pass rate which will keep these linebackers busy. It can also be noted that the Jets average the second-most plays per game on the season.

Dynasty Stashes

Alex Highsmith, DL/LB, Pittsburgh Steelers

With Bud Dupree likely to leave the team in Free Agency, this should leave Highsmith to a full-time role come next season. He’s already gotten a good amount of run since Bud Dupree tore his ACL and has shown well with limited work.

On a team with T.J. Watt and Stephon Tuitt, he has a chance to be an afterthought in offensive game plans going forward.

Jordyn Brooks, LB, Seattle Seahawks

Embed from Getty Images
Brooks was projected as a third-round draft pick ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the Seahawks liked him enough to take him in the late 1st Round.

He’s gotten a good amount of run as of late and has shown some serious potential. Wagner likely has a couple of years left as an elite LB, but Brooks could be a great Dynasty buy for players looking at the long-term.

Ashtyn Davis, DB, New York Jets

For those of you that have followed my content for any amount of time know I’m big on the Ashtyn Davis hype train.

He got the starting role about midway through the season. While he only had one game where he really stuffed the stat sheet, he showed promise for the future.

With a new defensive coordinator incoming, it’s possible he’ll be the incumbent starter in a scheme he can be featured in.
