Breakdown

Not to discredit anyone, but the big loss here is DE Nick Bosa of the 49ers. There’s no replacement for the level of game-changing talent that Nick Bosa brings to that defense. Before the addition of Bosa the 49ers pass rush was a group of former first-rounders that never lived up to the hype. Add Bosa and suddenly overnight they become one of the most formidable defenses in the league thanks to a nasty defensive line. Bosa made everyone on that line better, and now all of their value takes a hit for the rest of the season.

If Bosa is on your roster you’ll need to evaluate your team and go from there. Ask yourself, “Am I a contender? Am I a contender without Bosa right now? Am I building or in full rebuild?” If you’re a contender and have the depth to keep you competitive Bosa is a strict hold for me.

If you’re a contender but the loss of Bosa leaves a glaring hole in your lineup, flipping him for a slightly lower-end DL plus a piece might not be a terrible idea. That is of course if the waiver wire doesn’t offer much for replacements.

If you’re in a rebuild or building I’m likely holding Bosa unless the offer I receive offers a decent replacement I can start weekly, plus a high pick or prospect.

Ultimately, Bosa is a blue-chip player, and should not be dealt with lightly. Evaluate your situation, and make the corresponding move from there. Being a strict hold for his talent is okay too!
