Start ‘Em

DL: Stephon Tuitt, Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Dallas Cowboys

ECR: DL6 My Rank: DL2

This is a smash start for me. A “Waiver Wire All-Star” from Week 6’s Waiver Wire article, Tuitt finds himself in a great matchup this week. He is facing off against the 7th worst O-Line in terms of sacks allowed (3 Sacks Allowed Per Game) as well as an inexperienced quarterback that is yet to be named.

On top of the matchup itself, the game script that I’m projecting is very favorable as well. I figure the Steelers high powered offense will be able to get out to a lead early and score often, that should force the Dallas offense into a throw heavy scheme. This should allow the Steelers to pin their ears back and launch an assault on this weak O-Line.

LB: Kyler Fackrell, New York Giants Vs. Washington Football Team

ECR: LB51 My Rank: LB26

Kyler Fackrell is another player that finds himself in a great matchup in Week 9. Squaring up against an O-Line that allows 3.7 Sacks/Game, Fackrell will have plenty of opportunity.

You may be frustrated with Fackrell’s production over the last couple of weeks – I know I have been. Last week he faced off against a top-rated O-Line in Tampa, so expectations should have been tempered.

However, in Week 7 he had a great Thursday Night matchup against Philly and still underproduced. Personally, I’m attributing this to a short week of preparation, as well as Fackrell dealing with a nagging neck injury.

He should bounce back in Week 9.

DB: Jabrill Peppers, New York Giants Vs. Washington Football Team

ECR: DB22 My Rank: DB13

Jabrill Peppers was off to a terrible start this season. Between the injuries and the lack of production, he was shaping up to be one of the biggest IDP busts of the year.

However, in the last two games, he’s accrued 16 Tackles (13 Solo), 1 Tackle for Loss, 1 Sack, and 2 Passes Defensed. A pretty solid set of games and he’s shaping into the player most IDP Players expected him to be this season.

FLEX: Romeo Okwara, DL/LB, Detroit Lions Vs. Minnesota Vikings

ECR: DL22 My Rank: DL4

My boy, Romeo oh Romeo, gettin’ sacks for your homio. I’ll show myself out.

In all seriousness, Okwara has been a stud this season. Pegged as a “Waiver Wire All-Star” from Week 8’s Waiver Wire, Okwara was someone I was hesitant about going into last week against a tough matchup facing Indy, however, he still showed out and got the job done.

Fast forward to this week and he has a much better matchup against Minnesota. Detroit will be without Matt Stafford and will have to be more reliant on their defense than normal if they hope to win. Look for Okwara to be a regular in the Vikings’ backfield this weekend.

Sit ‘Em

DL: Calais Campbell, Baltimore Ravens Vs. Indianapolis Colts

ECR: DL20 My Rank: DL37

Calais Campbell is another aging player who has left us wanting more this season. Though he’s had a couple of decent games, he’s definitely outside of his prime.

Facing a tough matchup against the top-rated O-Line in sacks allowed, I’m not starting Campbell this weekend.

LB: Demario Davis, New Orleans Saints Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

ECR: LB13 My Rank: LB26

First off, I HATE THIS. Davis has been a favorite of mine for a few years now, but his production hasn’t been great this year. Despite a couple of games he doesn’t really seem to be himself, which could be the motivation behind the Kwon Alexander acquisition. I’m not trying to stir the pot, but Kwon is a significant investment for the Saints to take on, in terms of his salary cap hit as opposed to the trade compensation itself.

I will say I think he has a shot at a decent game based on the style of running the Bucs run with. A lot of downhill running with Ronald Jones and the slower Leonard Fournette could lead to decent tackle numbers. However, based on what he’s put up this year I’m not going to bank on it.

DB: Terrell Edmunds, Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. Dallas Cowboys

ECR: DB27 My Rank: DB34

Terrell Edmunds just isn’t a guy that stuffs stat sheets. He’s not a tackle monster, he’s not a playmaker. His ranking as it stands is pretty friendly in my opinion.

He does have a decent matchup this week with an inexperienced quarterback that’s yet to be named as a starter. However, as I mentioned, he’s just not a guy worth starting most weeks, and until he proves otherwise he’s lucky to ride my bench as opposed to the Waiver Wire.

FLEX: Justin Houston, DL/LB, Indianapolis Colts Vs. Baltimore Ravens

ECR: DL17 My Rank:DL38

Justin Houston is a player that seemed to had found the fountain of youth last season. However, this year he’s been quite a disappointment.

Listed as a player in my “IDP Drop List” in my Week 9 IDP Waiver Wire article, not only am I sitting him in a decent matchup, I’m looking at the Waiver Wire or my bench for other options. I don’t see him running down Lamar Jackson, or beating a Ravens O-Line that has had its struggles this season.
