2020 NFL DFS Week 5 DraftKings Picks

Welcome back to my 2020 NFL DFS Week 5 DraftKings picks.

Boy did COVID-19 rear its ugly head last week.

First off we lost a good matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers. That means players like A.J. Brown, James Conner, and Derrick Henry were unexpectedly out of the player pool.

Next, we lost Cam Newton just before his game against the Kansas City Chiefs. This subjected us to watching the likes of Brian Hoyer and Jarret Stidham try to keep up with Patrick Mahomes.

Lastly, COVID-19 moved the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs game out of Sunday’s Main Slate of games.

That being said, we did get a Monday night doubleheader, so not all bad!

Despite the games lost on Sunday we were still treated to some great performances. One of those performances came from RB Joe Mixon. He finally showed up for the Cincinnati Bengals going for 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and six reception for 30 yards and a touchdown in the air.

We also saw the return of George Kittle to the San Francisco 49ers lineup and he did not disappoint. Kittle was unstoppable with 15 receptions on 15 targets 183 yards and a touchdown.

Now on to Week 5 and for those you struggling in season-long Fantasy, on DraftKings we get to create brand new lineups!

2020 NFL DFS Week 5 DraftKings Picks

Todd Gurley, RB, Atlanta Falcons ($5,700) vs Panthers

Gurley is not the player he used to be, but he has been good for Fantasy. He is clearly the best RB on the team and he will get a lot of the goal line touches.

He still has a nose for the endzone with four touchdowns on the season.

Gurley was the lone bright spot for the Atlanta Falcons in their loss against the Green Bay Packers as he was able to hit paydirt twice with two scores.

This could be a fun game to watch as both teams have bad defenses.

DraftKings outlook:

This matchup can get out of hand quickly. DraftKings has this game against the Carolina Panthers at over 54 total points. Todd Gurley is projected for over 14 points on DraftKings. The Panthers defense gave up an average of 32 points to the lead back in the first three weeks of the season. Gurley can easily see his first 100-yard game of the season.

With the high projected point total, it is safe to say that I like a lot of players in this matchup. Stacking QB Matt Ryan ($6,100) and WR Calvin Ridley ($7,500) would be the way to go. I see them having a bounce-back game, and if WR Julio Jones plays it could open that offense for all other players. Also, look at the other side of the field and grab QB Teddy Bridgewater ($5.900), and WR DJ Morre (6,000) of the Carolina Panthers. Teams have been able to feast on the Falcons pass defense.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants, ($4,800) @ Cowboys

Slayton is the big play guy for the Giants. The Dallas Cowboys have shown that they are not able to stop the big plays. Slayton has faced some really good defenses in the last three games, but that ends this week.

The Cowboys defense has allowed five receivers to finish as WR1’s this year through four weeks.

Slayton has not been in the endzone since Week 1 but I expect that to change this week.

DraftKings outlook:

Vegas has the over/under in this game is 54 points. F6P projects Slayton to score over 14 points. At $5,000, that’s good for 3x value!

A high projected point total means I like more players in this game. There are the obvious plays like QB Dak Prescott ($7,400), RB Ezekiel Elliott ($7,800), and WR Amari  Cooper ($7,400). However, my favorite play here is TE Dalton Schultz ($4,800).

Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers, ($5,600) vs Eagles

Johnson is a really good WR, and he is going to see a lot of action in this game. In the first two games of the season, Ben Roethlisberger has targeted the second-year wideout 23 times. He was knocked out of their Week 3 matchup against the Houston Texans early with a concussion.

With the canceled game in Week 4, it gave him extra time to rest. Now that he is out of the concussion protocol, he is going to wreak havoc on the Eagles secondary.

Draftkings outlook:

Vegas has the over/under set at just 44.5 points. That makes this one of the lowest-scoring games of the day. Fantasy Six Pack projects Johnson to score more than 14 DK points.

Look for the Eagles to focus on JuJu Smith-Schuster on defense. That should give Johnson a lot of 1-on-1 matchups.

Although this is not one of those high scoring games there are still other players I like here. RB James Conner ($6,900) has been solid this season with 215 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games.

Conner is also going to factor in the passing game. Looking for him to be used a lot in these matchups.
