2020 NFL DFS Week 8 DraftKings Picks

on

Welcome back to my 2020 NFL DFS Week 8 DraftKings Picks. Week 7 could be summed up in three words, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

First the good, we had two great wide receiver performances. Davante Adams had a bounce-back game against the Houston Texans. After posting only 61 yards on six receptions versus Tampa Bay, he reminded us all that he is still an elite receiver going for 196 yards, on 13 receptions, scoring two touchdowns.

Not to be outdone, Tyler Lockett went supernova with 200 yards, 15 receptions, and three touchdowns!

Second, the bad – and when we are talking bad we talking about everything that is happening in Dallas. Let’s face it, the Cowboys flat out stink on both sides of the ball. I know what you are going to say, “they have had a lot of injuries”.

The worst part of the Cowboys stinking up to the place is that it is spreading to Ezekiel Elliott. Zeke has rushed for just 94 yards on 24 attempts in the last two weeks with zero touchdowns.

Finally The Ugly, or what I should call the injuries. Unfourtantly we lost some fantasy-relevant players last week. The San Francisco 49ers can’t catch a break. Both Jeff Wilson and Deebo Samuel were lost for multiple weeks, in a game where the Niners just completely took apart the New England Patriots.

But they will at least play again this season. The Cleveland Browns lost Odell Beckham Jr. for the season with an ACL tear.

Hoping to avoid the bad and the ugly in Week 8, here are some players that I’m going to roll with this week on DraftKings.

Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals, ($6,200)

That’s right readers I’m going with another rookie quarterback. This is a good matchup as the Titans have been beatable through the air. They gave up 268 yards and two touchdowns to Big Ben Roethlisberger in Week 7.

Quarterbacks are averaging over 278 yards and almost three touchdowns per game vs Tennessee’s secondary.

DraftKings outlook

Fantasy Six Pack has Burrow projected for almost 20 points. Cincy has one of the worst defenses in the NFL, and it just got worst with the trade of Carlos Dunlap. We could be witnesses to a shootout in Cincinnati.

Burrow throws the ball enough to where he could support three receivers. But the receiver I like the most is fellow rookie Tee Higgins ($5,600). He is $1000 less than Tyler Boyd ($6,600) and he provides the same amount of upside.

Putting Higgins in your lineup will allow you to go after some of the higher-priced players on the other side of the field like Derrick Henry ($8,000).

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers, ($5,800)

Ok, I don’t usually like writing about players from my favorite team at the risk of sounding bias, but this guy is awesome!. Aiyuk had a breakout game last week, hauling in six of his seven targets for the first 100 yard game of his career. With Deebo Samuel out for the next couple of games, Aiyuk will see a lot of targets from Jimmy G.

DraftKings outlook

Aiyuk is projected for almost 13.5 points according to F6P Wisdom of the Crowd projections. Brandon is scoring 2.28 fantasy points per target, which is top 20 according to Player Profiler.

The Seattle Seahawks are a juggernaut on offense, and the Niners have not been shy about throwing the ball as of late. They will have to in order to keep pace on the scoreboard!

Jonnu Smith, TE, Tennesse Titans ($4,100)

I know what you are saying to yourself reader, “Jesse doesn’t usually highlight two players from the same game”. You would be right but I wanted to emphasize how much I love Jonnu this week. He is going up against a defense that is dead last against opposing tight ends, and Smith is no ordinary tight end. He is too big for defensive backs and too fast for linebackers.

DraftKings outlook

Fantasy Six Pack has Smith projected for over 10 points. I get it, he is coming off two lackluster games, but let’s put them in perspective.

In the Texas game, he wasn’t 100 percent and he only received two targets.

In the next game, he played one of the best defenses in the league.

He is not going to have any of those issues in this matchup.

I also like A.J. Brown ($6,000) in this game, he is just one big play from having a great game every week.
