Before we kick off the 2021-22 Fantasy Basketball Week 16 Drop List let’s take a look back at last week’s article to see what we got right and where we went wrong.

Since last weeks article there haven't really been any changes in how I see the three players from that article. Andre Drummond did have a very good game when Embiid sat out a game. That is to be expected as every time Embiid sits Drummond puts up great numbers. The issue is that when Embiid is healthy Drummond doesn't see enough playing time to warrant a roster spot.

Josh Giddey, PG/SG, Oklahoma City Thunder (61.3 ESPN)

Player Rater 15: -0.37

Josh Giddey has been one of the best rookies this year and looks to have a bright future in the NBA. While he is providing a bunch of value in both rebounds and assists, like many rookie guards he is lacking in both of the efficiency categories. That combined with him being a low volume scorer and not shooting many three-pointers really limits the value that he can bring to your fantasy team.

According to the player rater 15 Giddey had four categories where he provided negative value. Those were field goal percentage, free throw percentage, three-pointers made, and blocks. Point guards aren't expected to put up many blocked shots obviously. But if you have negative value in the other categories as a point guard is concerning and I don't really see Giddey fixing those issues this season.

RJ Barrett, SG/SF, New York Knicks (83.7)

Player Rater 15: 2.27

RJ Barrett has been lauded for having a very good January while the rest of the Knicks roster continues to struggle this year. While it is true that Barrett has been a bright spot for the Knicks and is a building block for their future, that doesn't necessarily mean that he is providing your fantasy team the same value.

The issue with Barrett is that he is providing a significant negative value in both the field goal percentage and free throw percentage categories. According to the player rater 15 he is providing -1.19 points of value in the field goal percentage category and -2.44 points of value in the free-throw percentage category. Those are some massive negatives in both categories where a negative player can really sink your team's chances of competing in those categories.

Buddy Hield, SG/SF, Sacramento Kings (84.8)

Player Rater 15: -0.78

Buddy Hield is known to be a streaky player. He is a volume three-point shooter that doesn't usually provide much else. When he is at his best he is a good source of points and provides a little bit of value in free throw percentage and rebounds.

The issue is that when he isn't at his best he can be a major drain on your field goal percentage category, while not providing much value in any category.

That is the stage where we currently are with Hield. According to the player rater 15 he is providing -2.41 points of value in field goal percentage. He also isn't providing over 1.00 points of value in any other category. Of course, Hield could break out of this slump, but with Fox and Haliburton being the Kings backcourt of the future Hield doesn't have the upside that he used to have. Now his highs aren't worth rostering him through his lows.
