2021-22 Fantasy Basketball Week 2 Weekly Planner

on

Welcome to the 2021-22 Fantasy Basketball Week 2 Weekly Planner!

It’s been a long offseason filled with plenty of uncertainty. What’s Ben Simmons’ situation with the 76ers going to look like? Will Kyrie Irving finally get the jab? When will Zion Williamson shred all of that Louisiana gumbo weight?

In spite of the mystery and drama surrounding star Eastern Conference guards Simmons and Irving, we’re all happy that the NBA is officially back. Threats to the reigning champs, the Milwaukee Bucks, have sprung up following Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ascension into NBA royalty. The Warriors core squad is almost ready to go with sharpshooter Klay Thompson’s return. A reinforced Lakers squad with Russell Westbrook seeks three-fold redemption, while a fully healthy James Harden looks to lead Brooklyn, alongside Kevin Durant, to the promised land – with or without Kyrie.

It’s a long season ahead, and Fantasy managers need to take things slowly and deliberately to navigate through the treacherous waters of the Fantasy season.

Without further ado, here’s the 2021-22 Fantasy Basketball Week 2 Weekly Planner, where you’ll find options for streaming, pickups, and teams to target and avoid.

Pickup of the Week

Tyrese Maxey, PG/SG, Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons seems to have no inclination to play for the 76ers this season, and his dubious back injury announced on Friday is all but a confirmation of this. With Simmons indefinitely sidelined as of today (Oct. 21st), Tyrese Maxey should be rostered everywhere as he looks to fill the PG void for the team.

Maxey is a score-first guard who’s flashed some potential last season, but with this new opportunity presented to him, he’ll look to soak upwards of 30 minutes a game while offering juicy upside, at least while Simmons and Shake Milton are both sidelined (for different reasons of course).

He’s currently rostered in 52% of Yahoo leagues, so he may already be gone in competitive leagues, but if he’s not, go ahead and pick him up.

Team to Target

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks are playing four games in Week 2, facing off against the Rockets, the Spurs, the Nuggets, and the Kings. Last season, those teams’ defensive ratings were league-wide 27th, 17th, 11th, and dead last 30th, respectively. Denver here will be the only tough matchup as the Mavs will look to farm some easy wins to try and secure another playoff spot in a tough Western Conference.

Shoutout to former Knicks sharpshooter Reggie Bullock, who could be an interesting source of points and triples on decent efficiency off the bench for the Mavs, especially facing the caliber of defense that these four opponents offer.

Team to Avoid

Phoenix Suns

The Suns only have two games in Week 2, and they aren’t back to back. Anybody you stream from the Phoenix squad will only give you two games of value compared to the four you could get from the teams listed earlier. The Suns also like to share the rock and play as a team, so unless there are key players missing, you can probably find better options on the wire.

Keep an eye out for Chris Paul’s health. He isn’t getting any younger, and the Suns will be careful with his minutes to keep him fresh for another potential Finals run. Should he miss time in the future, Cameron Payne and Elfrid Payton could be solid streamers for either points or assists, respectively.
