Dynasty Baseball Buy or Sell 2-8-21

Welcome to the 2-8-21 edition of the Dynasty Baseball Buy or Sell series.

When it comes to dynasty baseball it's all about getting ahead of the curve. Buying players before they rise and selling players before their decline, similar to the stock market.

This article will be focusing on both hitters and pitchers, with a more refined look at younger players who can make an impact on your dynasty team.

I will also highlight players to begin to sell when their value is highest and you are able to get the greatest ROI (return on investment).

Nate Pearson, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Admittedly Pearson is someone that I am extremely high on. Whether that be his large profile on the mound (6'6" 250lb) that intimidates hitters or it may also be his 70-grade fastball that sits 95-97 and tops 99, that challenges hitters.

Pearson was selected 28th overall in the 2017 MLB amateur draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. He has made his way quickly through the Toronto farm system to make his MLB debut in 2020.

Pearson sports a 23.4K% and a 9.2BB%. He generates soft or medium contact 65% of the time.

Pearson is still learning to pitch as he has only amassed a total of 123IP in his professional career. However, he has all the tools and looks of a high upside ace that I can see eventually becoming a SP1 in the not too far future. I am looking to add where ever possible.

Trent Grisham, OF, San Diego Padres

Most people remember Grisham from the 2019 NL Wild Card series when he made a crucial error in the bottom of the 8th allowing Washington to score the go-ahead run.

While Washington would eventually go on to win the World Series, Grisham playing with Milwaukee at the time was shipped off to San Diego.

This seems to have jump-started his career. In his first full MLB season(albeit only 59 games) Grisham went on to slash 251/352/456 and posted an OPS of .808 which included a three HR game in 2020. G

Grisham (only 24) is projected to bat lead-off for a stacked San Diego lineup. His power and speed combo should have him reaching 20/20 for foreseeable future.

Miguel Sano, 1B/3B, Minnesota Twins

Sano is a player that I am trying to flip now while the pan player is hot. Sano in 2012 was one of baseball's top prospects.

While his first couple seasons in the bigs fell short of expectations, he started to take off in 2017. His power was finally put on display from 2017-2020 as he hit 88HR in 1256AB (162 game avg of 40HR).

The problem with Sano is he only hits for power and nothing else. He carries a career 37K% (career-high of 44% in 2020). He led MLB in strikeouts in 2020 and has a career .241 BA (.204 in 2020). It's basically all or nothing with Sano.

After a huge year in 2019 and 2020, he is someone that you should be able to send to a team that is desperate for power.
