In this week's 2021 Dynasty Baseball Prospect Profile, we take a look at Bobby Witt Jr. The Kansas City Royals have been on fire to start the 2021 season. If Witt Jr. makes it to the majors, that would be like throwing kerosene into that fire. The Royals drafted their current top overall prospect with the 2nd overall pick of the 2019 Draft. He measures 6-foot-1, 190 lbs.
Bobby Witt Jr is likely to be a perennial All-Star at the MLB level. He has all of the tools to be a special player, even a possible 5-tool star at shortstop. Royals fans should be extremely excited about this kid's future. I should stay away from player comps, but he reminds me of Corey Seager.
2021 Dynasty Baseball Prospect Profile: Bobby Witt Jr
Bobby Witt Jr. has an above-average hit tool. He should get on base plenty and often without any issues. He hits the high fastball well and has good plate discipline.
During the 2019 rookie ball season, Witt Jr. had a 19.4 K% and a 7.2 BB%. His OBP was .317.
Bobby Witt Jr. has above-average power. He has it in him to hit 25 home runs annually. Considering that he is just 20, he should fill out into his frame more. This kid is going to be one of a handful of premier shortstops in Major League Baseball.
Although Witt Jr. only had 1 home run in 2019, this kid is still a stud. I can't wait to see how this potential star develops over time. He has already shown flashes of dominance after tearing up Spring Training.
Bobby Witt Jr. has above-average speed. He should get plenty of stolen bases since the Royals are a fairly aggressive organization on the basepath.
In 2019, Witt Jr. stole 9 bags which shows his speed and aggressiveness on the base paths.
