2021 Fantasy Baseball Rest of Season Rankings

Sorry for the lack of an update last week to my 2021 Fantasy Baseball Rest of Season Rankings. With the NFL Draft occurring last week, all my attention went to preparing for my two podcasts, including the live draft show we did Thursday night. It was a blast to talk some football, but now it is time to refocus on some Fantasy Baseball.

Anyway, we are over a month into the season and now is the time where we either really need to see players bust out of slumps or get worried about them. At the same time, those players who had hot first months it will be interesting to see if they can keep it going. Especially those that were very unexpected.

It is also crazy how many injuries we have this season. This is the longest list injury list I have had this early in the season ever. I know we say there are a lot of injuries every year, but this tweet backs that up.

  • The player in the featured image, sorry for my jinx, Juan Soto hit the IL with a shoulder injury but returns tonight
  • Jacob deGrom was scratched from his start Tuesday with a side issue.
  • Luis Robert is on the IL with a Grade 3 hip flexor. He will be out 12-16 weeks.
  • Dustin May is lost of the season after requiring Tommy John. He was off to a very nice start.
  • Travis d’Arnaud is on the IL with a torn ligament in his thumb and is on the 60-day IL.
  • Nico Hoerner who was climbing up the rankings after finally getting the callup, is on the IL with a forearm injury. Hopes to return in minimum time.
  • Jake Arrieta is on the IL with a thumb injury.
  • Matthew Boyd is DTD with a sore left knee. He missed his scheduled start this week, but the hope is he will avoid a long absence.
  • Brady Singer is DTD after getting hit by a comebacker.
  • Anthony Rendon is DTS with a knee contusion. No major concern for now.
  • Cody Bellinger is ging to face live pitching soon, but sill not update on his return date.
  • Jazz Chisholms Jr. is on the IL with a hamstring injury.
  • Starling Marte will be out at best until early June.
  • Corbin Burnes is out for an undisclosed reason.
  • Carlos Carrasco is expected to return to the majors soon unless there is a setback.
  • J.D. Davis is on the IL with a sprained finger.
  • Marcus Stroman left his last start with a tight hamstring hopes to make his next start.
  • Dinelson Lamet felt good in his most recent bullpen session, but still no timetable for a return.
  • Chris Paddack is on the IL with no designation.
  • Mike Yastrzemski is on the IL due to an oblique injury.
  • Hyun-Jin Ryu, hip injury, is expected to be activated to start this week.

Other Notable Movers

  • Jesus Aguilar is making a rapid accent up the rankings as he is hitting for both power and average this season.
  • Keston Hiura dropped significantly after he was sent down to the minors after a horrific start to the season.
  • Victor Robles is easily droppable at this point has he not producing.
  • Kris Bryant is on the rise. He leads the league in HR and is batting well over .300.
  • Unexpected pitchers Danny Duffy, Carlos Martinez, Carlos Rodon move up the ranks.
  • While pitchers Luis Castillo, Kenta Maeda, Kyle Hendricks all move down.
  • Bullpens are changing rapidly. I have moved many relievers around as closer roles are changing. Be sure to keep tabs on the bullpens by using our Closer Chart.

*Note about the rankings. Use the Position Eligibility drop-down to filter by site you play on. Also +/- you see in the last column is not how much I have moved them up or down. It is how much more or less I like the player against the Fantasy Pros expert consensus.
