2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 2 Drops

Baseball Drops Week Two

Here we are at the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 2 Drops. This article will give you that extra edge to make the right moves to dominate your fantasy league.

The baseball season (and fantasy for that matter) is like a cross-country drive from LA to NY. While in LA you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic and you move quite slow trying to navigate your way through the LA highways. This is just like the start to the fantasy season, Trying to also sightsee (all of the new players you've drafted) and figuring out what best spots to see.

We are still at the beginning of our cross country roundtrip and we are stuck in LA, it doesn't make sense to go full throttle and make big moves because it is only week two. So, just like last week, we will highlight two players a pitcher and a hitter that are no longer worthy of keeping on your team.

Let's recap my picks from last week.

Andrew McCutchen had a pretty bad week with a .222 batting average if this trend continues expect him to fall in the batting order.

Brady Singer hasn't pitched in almost a week so there is that. He may have a bounce-back effort when he pitches tonight but don't put too much stock into him moving forward.

With the recap out of the way let's get to the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 2 Drops.

With Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and the only person to throw a no-no for the Friars, Joe Musgrove, locked into starter roles, it comes down to Paddack and Adrian Morejon to be knocked out of the rotation once Dinelson Lamet returns. For a guy who was once seen as the top prospect, I believe that Paddock will be the odd man out.

Keep in mind that Morejon has only had one start while Paddock has had two. Also, Morejon is younger (22) compared to Paddack (25) which you would think would give Paddack the edge, it doesn't. Frankly, Morejon has pitched better and Paddock could be moved to the bullpen once Lamet is back to full strength.

UPDATE: Morejon left Sunday's start with an injury and a timetable has not been given for his return.

In an already crowded outfield with Aaron Hicks and Aaron Judge as everyday players, Frazier is in a battle with the always reliable Brett Gardner. Frazier started the year off with five hits in his first four games. In the next three games (April 6th-9th) he has not gotten on base once and has struck out six times. You may ask "well didn't the Yankees play on the 10th and 11th"? This is true, however, Gardner got the start in both games.

You can say that Boone is playing the matchups or giving Frazier a day off but I don't buy it. Especially with Gardner being a spark for a sputtering offense. Frazier is owned in 71% of Yahoo leagues and 76% of ESPN leagues. Get on the trend of dropping as he moves to a more platoon role.

As we see the Hollywood sign in our rearview mirror in our Mustang GT, the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 2 Drops fades into the sunset. We hit the open road next week and  will take a good hard look at players who we were hoping to be contributors, but may get stuck in the Mohave Desert.
