2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 20 Waiver Wire

Welcome Fantasy friends and foes to the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 20 Waiver Wire.

I spent this past weekend at the fantastic Fantasy Football Expo, and talked football with a great group of individuals. I listened to each of the analysts providing advice and it made me think how many different paths to winning there are.

Every individual likes their favorite team or believes in certain fantasy players and they live and die fantasy speaking with those truths. It makes them who they are and it made me even more aggressive with my thought processes and evaluations.

We are winding down on the fantasy baseball season, and there is no reason not to take risks. Fantasy managers need every advantage possible which will likely result in picking up players that are currently on a hot streak. Jump on the hot streak as long as you can and it could lead to the title.

Here are three players that are currently hot. Fantasy managers should not hesitate to pick up and reap the benefits. Find out who you ride to the winning circle in the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 20 Waiver Wire.

Hitters

Lewis Brinson, OF, Miami Marlins

How many of my fellow Fantasy managers have been burned by Lewis Brinson? It seems that is the same storyline. Brinson has finally figured it out. Brinson will finally live up to the hype. The Miami Marlins have stood by Brinson for three-plus years, and he has rewarded the team with an impressive run since being called up on July 19.

Take a look at these massive numbers that the Marlins outfielder has produced since the All-Star break. Brinson is slashing .349/.406/.698 with an outstanding 1.104 OPS. In those 20 games, he has smacked five homers and knocked in 18 runs while scoring 12 runs.

The 27-year-old outfielder has benefited from the increased playing time that resulted from the Marlins trading starting outfielders Starling Marte and Adam Duvall at the MLB Trade Deadline. As a result, Brinson is now primarily hitting in the No. 4-5 spot in a Marlins lineup, and he is hitting .282/.319/.519 with a .838 OPS and seven homers and 23 RBI overall this season.

Everyone has to believe in something, correct? Believe that you don't own five outfielders currently hitting better than Lewis Brinson. Fantasy managers should add Brinson in all Fantasy leagues regardless of format.

Miguel Cabrera, 1B, Detroit Tigers

Once the most feared hitter of his generation, Miguel Cabrera is now 38 years old and hitting .254/.316/.388 with a .705 OPS with 12 homers and 51 RBI this season. The veteran slugger has been on a hot streak as he strives to reach MLB milestones.

Over his past 15 games, Cabrera is slashing .347/.435/.633 with four homers and eight RBI. He is sitting on 499 career homers. He is only one away from being only the 28th player in MLB history to surpass the 500 homer mark. Cabrera is also closing on the 3,000 hit milestone, currently sitting on 2,951 career hits.

I hate to be nostalgic, but I'm rooting for Cabrera to make MLB history. Considering his current hot bat, I am willing to insert him in my lineups in the CI or Utility spot and ride the wave.

Pitchers

Vladimir Gutierrez, SP, Cincinnati Reds

A return to the waiver wire recommendations, Vladimir Gutierrez, was featured in my Week 12 Waiver Wire. The rookie right-hander has emerged as developed a valuable member of the Cincinnati Reds rotation.

Gutierrez has gone at least six innings in six of his last seven starts. He dominated in August with a 3-0 record and a 1.42 ERA, and 1.00 WHIP while allowing a .206 BAA.

Overall, the right-hander has posted an 8-3 record with a 3.95 ERA but an unimpressive 1.33 WHIP and 17.11 K% across 79.2 innings of work. However, Gutierrez has exhibited enormous growth across this past month and has the sixth-best scoring Reds' lineup backing him.

Fantasy managers should ride the hot arm of Gutierrez as a streaming option in all Fantasy formats until if and when the wheels fall off.
