2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 3 Drops

on

We are headed into the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 3 Drops. This week we drive to Arizona where a once-dominant pitcher is no longer worth his value on your fantasy team. While another pitcher hits almost as many bats as he does catchers mitts.

As we look back at last week. We highlight the two previous drops from last week.

Chris Paddack– He went a whooping five innings pitched, gave up one run, and only had four strikeouts. Until Morejon comes back from the IL expect Paddack to hold onto his rotation spot.

Clint Frazier – Let’s just put it this way. He has only played three times and had one hit in the last week for the anemic offense that is the New York Yankees. ( They currently rank #24 in total runs and #25 in team batting average).

This week as we leave California and head to Arizona on our cross country tour it is only fitting that we highlight a former Diamondback and a current Diamondback. The 2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 3 Drops is no joke and we see some trends from last year continuing this year.

At one point both of these pitchers were considered top 25 pitchers in the game. Now the fall from grace is faster than Lil Nas-X on the pole in the Montero video.

Patrick Corbin, SP, Washington Nationals

Still owned in 72% of Yahoo and 75% of ESPN leagues, Corbin is off to a terrible 2021. In his two starts this season, he has given up a combined 15 runs, never making it past the fifth inning. If Corbin is on your team (and he looks like he is) drop him.

Corbin’s barrel percentage is 20 which ranks in the bottom 4 percent of the league. You know what this means, is ever five hitters has a perfect combination of exit velocity and launch angle. I know I told the editors I wouldn’t cuss, but this is f*ing terrible!

What you may be saying to me is Josh, he has only pitched in two games this season. *In my best Lee Corso voice* “not so fast my friend”. In his last three starts for the 2020 season, he gave up 12 runs. Corbin is on a rapid decline and it is time to get rid of him.

Madison Bumgarner, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

This one pains me more than you think. Mad-Bum was one of, if not the best in his prime. He has not been good in three out of the four games he has pitched this year. Giving up no less than five runs in three of those starts ( on Sunday he only gave up one run).

Never being the player who could throw 100 MPH with his fastball his analytics are on pace with the years where he excelled. Could it finally be that hitters have figured him out after all of these years? Could it be the ballpark? I can’t answer these questions. What I can answer is Bumgarner is no longer the pitcher he once was and will not help you on being a top fantasy player.

Recap

As we drive through the Sonoran Desert the heat of the season turns up. With the heat rising, tempers also rise (like what happened at Yankee Stadium on Saturday).  Guys to keep an eye on this week are Dylan Moore and Matt Carpenter. Until next time my friends, enjoy the ride that is the baseball season.
