Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts (ADP 154 – QB22)

Carson Wentz had a lousy season in 2020, and the Fantasy community still hasn’t forgiven him. Wentz played on one of the worst football offenses in the NFL and five complete games less than other quarterbacks. He still finished as QB22 on the season.

Wentz averaged 17.78 points per game and was projected to finish as QB13 with 284.48 points if he had played all 16 games.

Why I’m Buying Wentz

Carson Wentz has proven time and time again he is a quarterback that can make do with less at the receiver position. Always on pace for 4,000 yards and 26+ touchdowns, Wentz has never had any big-name receiving option short of Zach Ertz.

The biggest name at wide receiver was Alshon Jeffery, and he never went past 1,000 yards with the Philidelphia Eagles.

The revolving door on the offensive line, receiving options, and running back didn’t set Wentz up for success in 2020. I believe the Colts are confident in the offensive line, T.Y. Hilton, and Michael Pittman to ensure that Wentz will thrive in 2021.

I will be surprised if Wentz finishes worse than QB16 this season.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (ADP 103 – QB12)

As of late, I have seen Matt Ryan’s ADP begin to move upwards, originally QB16, but now is QB12 off the board.

Ryan is not a QB I would rely on to win me real-life games, but in the Fantasy world, Ryan is one of the best values in Best-Ball. I won’t be surprised to see Ryan’s value drop back into the teens by the start of the season.

I currently have Matt Ryan projected to be my QB8 for the 2021 season.

Why I’m Buying Matt Ryan

I am not one of Ryan’s biggest fans, but I cannot argue that he is not one of the more consistent Fantasy QBs in the league today.

Here are the reasons why I am considering Ryan a steal at his ADP:

  1. Since 2012 Ryan has finished as a top-five passing leader in every season besides one.
    • Ryan missed it in 2017 but finished as the sixth-highest passing leader that year.
  2. On average, he has completed 286 yards and 1.625 touchdowns per game. This is the most consistent floor in comparison to the other starting quarterbacks in the league.
  3. This is the most balanced of a Falcons offense that Ryan has ever had in his career from a roster standpoint. All positions from wide receiver, running back, and tight-end are receiving threats in the red zone. The biggest knock on Ryan is his lack of touchdowns, but any season Ryan has had 30+ touchdowns in a season, he finished top five.
  4. The Atlanta Falcons play in one of the toughest divisions, the NFC South. I do not expect them to coast during weeks thirteen to seventeen. Expect Ryan to be Fantasy competitive all through the season,

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (ADP 201 – QB30)

Jared Goff is the best value pick in Best Ball tournaments right now. Currently, a player bouncing between round 17 and undrafted.

His job is secured for 2021 and currently being drafted behind rookies and veterans who are less than likely to play all seventeen games this season.

There aren’t many 17th/18th round picks that will give you guaranteed value that Goff could provide you at the end of the draft.

Why I’m Buying Jared Goff
  1. Job security. If Goff plays seventeen games, you will automatically gain value from him versus other players drafted at his ADP.
  2. He plays behind a decent offensive line that boasts Frank Ragnow, Taylor Decker, and added Penei Sewell via the NFL Draft.
  3. He plays on a team that is expected to struggle defensively and rely on him to win them games.
  4. Coach Dan Campbell coached a quarterback with similar skill sets in the past in Ryan Tannehill in 2015. Tannehill produced some solid Fantasy-relevant weeks that season.

Drew Lock, Denver Broncos (ADP 215 – QB34)

Drew Lock is currently going as QB39 in Best Ball, and this is blasphemous. The Teddy Bridgewater news and the overall distaste people have for Lock are a bit horrendous.

I do not believe Lock is a great quarterback, but he has been dealt a poor hand and is the front runner for the blame game in Denver.

Regarding Lock’s job security, Bridgewater was brought in as competition to motivate Lock to be better and nothing more. I do not believe the Denver Broncos organization believes that Bridgewater is the future for their team.

In 2020 Bridgewater played more games than Lock with a better receiving corps and still threw fewer touchdowns than Lock.

When it comes to passing accuracy/completion ratio, Lock outperforms Bridgewater accuracy in all passes that are further than 10+ yards. Lock’s pass completion is less than Bridgewater’s, but Lock also had more drops by his wide receiver corps in all deep passes. Bridgewater only suffered from one dropped pass.

Why I’m Buying Drew Lock

I have written an article for Drew Lock earlier this offseason, you can find it here.

Changes since the created article were the acquisition of Javonte Williams and the season-ending injury to Ja’Wuan James. These off-season additions/injuries have not changed my opinion on how Lock will perform. Lock is an absolute value at his current ADP and is easy to stack in Best Ball tournaments.
