2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact

2021 Fantasy Football Week 9 Start-Sit

Welcome everyone to the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact article. As always, I will be going over the most fantasy-relevant injuries.

There were quite a few players to go down, along with many scares in week two. Baker Mayfield (shoulder) and Derek Carr left the game briefly, which scared some 2021 fantasy players out there. Both of them came back to the game and got their teams the win.

Unfortunately, not every Quarterback came out of Week Two unscathed. There were four starting QB's that went down (Uhhh!! What?). When was the last time this happened? I will be going over all of these injuries and more below. So once again, welcome everyone to the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact article.

2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact

Quarterbacks Dropping Like Fly's

It was a rough week for the Quarterbacks.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins - Ribs (TBD)

Tua exited the game in the first quarter after suffering a brutal hit. He tried walking off the field on his own but ended up getting carted to the locker room. Tua was only able to complete one pass for 13 yards during his playing time.

The hit didn't look good, along with what happened afterward. Tua is expected to miss some time, which means Jacoby Brissett will be the new signal-caller. In Tua's place, Jacoby went 24/40 for 169 yards and one interception. If you are in 10 or 12 team leagues, do not pick him up. In deeper leagues, you can give him a shot. He might be able to provide you a decent game during a bye-week fill-in.

Andy Dalton, QB, Chicago Bears - Knee (TBD)

Andy Dalton suffered a knee injury while scrambling. It didn't look bad, but Andy was not able to return to the game. Dalton was 9 for 11 for 56 yards and one touchdown before getting injured. Matt Nagy said that he doesn't suspect an ACL injury, which is good news. The bad news is, Justin Fields will be taking over and I don't think he will be giving up the starting job anytime soon.

In his place, Justin Fields went 6 of 13 for 60 yards and one interception. He also rushed the ball ten times for 31 yards and one fumble. Now would be a good time to pick up Justin Fields if he hasn't already been.

Carson Wentz, QB, Indianapolis Colts - Ankle (TBD)

Carson Wentz went down in the fourth quarter with a serious ankle injury. Up until the injury, Carson Wentz was 20 of 31 for 247 yards and 1 touchdown. He also added 37 yards on the ground. There is no word right now on how serious it is, but I would prepare for him to be missing some time. Jacob Eason is the new QB1 for the Colts. He went 2 of 5 for 15 yards and one interception.

Leave him on the waiver wire, please. This is also a downgrade to all of the Colts' pass catchers.

Tyrod Taylor, QB, Houston Texans - Hamstring

Man!!! What a shame this injury was. Tyrod Taylor was playing very well up until his injury, which he scored on. Tyrod went 10 for 11 for 125 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 15 yards and one touchdown. I expect him to miss a couple of games at least, and he has already been ruled out for their Thursday night game.

Davis Mills will be starting in his place and I do not want to see him being picked up. He went 8 for 18 with a touchdown and a pick on Sunday. This hurts the Houston offense, downgrade for all of them.

Cursed in San Francisco?

All I can say is wow. But let's continue on with the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact article.

Elijah Mitchell, RB, San Francisco 49ers - Shoulder

Elijah Mitchell went down with a shoulder injury during Sunday's game after rushing the ball 17 times for 42 yards. He also added two catches for 11 yards. Elijah was able to return to the game, which delighted many niner fans in attendance. If you have Mitchell on your team, monitor the situation for the next few weeks.

Trey Sermon, RB, San Francisco 49ers - Concussion

Trey Sermon was injured on his first career rush, which was for eight yards. Unfortunately, Sermon suffered a concussion and did not return. I don't see him playing next week, so it would be a good idea to drop him for someone who can perform on the field.

JaMycal Hasty, RB, San Francisco 49ers - Ankle

Not much is known about his injury right now except for it being an ankle injury. I would leave on the waiver wire for now until you hear that he is healthy. If healthy, he could be a solid waiver wire pickup. On Sunday, Hasty rushed the ball five times for 38 yards. He also was targeted five times and caught four for 21 yards. Keep an eye on him.

Other Significant Fantasy Injuries

Laviska Shenault Jr, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars - Shoulder

Laviska will get an MRI on Wednesday to see how serious his injury is. Before getting injured, Viska got seven targets but only caught two of them for negative three yards. Nobody knows if he will miss time just yet, but if he does, that will be a boost for D.J. Chark and Marvin Jones.

Amari Cooper, WR, Dallas Cowboys - Ribs

Amari Cooper had a quiet day, to say the least. He only caught three balls for 24 yards before getting injured. There is no further word on the injury Amari Cooper got on Sunday. He took quite a shot to the ribs, so it's possible he could miss some time. If he does, Ceedee Lamb is going to be WR1 territory.

Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings - Ankle

I wouldn't be worrying too much about this injury just yet. Dalvin Cook was able to return and still looked good. It's just something you will have to monitor moving forward.

Jarvis Landry, WR, Cleveland Browns - Knee

Jarvis Landry was only able to catch one ball before exiting the game with a knee injury. We do not know how serious the injury is yet but expect him to miss a few weeks. Boost to the tight ends and maybe Odell when he returns.

Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers - Knee

Diontae Johnson was helped off the field after getting injured on the last play of the game. Let's hope it is nothing serious because Diontae is needed in the fantasy world. He was targeted 12 times and caught nine of them for 105 yards.

Boost to Claypool, Juju, and Najee if Diontae misses any time.

Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams - Ribs

Darrell Henderson left the game in the fourth quarter with a rib injury. As of right now, there is no word on how serious the injury is. Henderson was solid before getting hurt, he rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown. He also was targeted five times and caught three of them for 29 yards. If you see that he is going to miss some time, pick up Sony Michel.

Russell Gage, WR, Atlanta Falcons - Ankle

Russell Gage left the game with an ankle injury but was able to come back. He was able to get seven targets, catching five for 28 yards. Monitor this injury moving forward if he is on your team.

That should do it for the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 2 Injury Impact article. See you all next time for Week 3.
