2021 Fantasy Football Week 5 Trade Targets

Welcome to our Week 5 Trade Targets for the 2021 Fantasy Football season. If you missed last week's article, you could check it out here. This past week was full of high-scoring players and some of my trade targets will emphasize taking advantage of that.

As a reminder, avoid making any panic trades as we still have more weeks to come. You still have plenty of time to turn your season around.

So let's get this started and talk about 2021 Fantasy Football Week 5 Trade Targets. I'll cover buy-low, buy-high targets, as well as players I am looking to sell.

Buy Low Targets

Brandin Cooks, WR, Houston Texans

Brandin Cooks is my must buy low this week. He caught five catches on seven targets for a middling 47 yards. Davis Mills hasn’t been good and is staying true to his third-round rookie tag. Even with Mills under center, Cooks is still the focal point of the offense.

Don’t let the Bills shutting out a team bother you, they shut out Miami in Week 2, kept target hog Terry McLaurin to 62 yards in Week 3, and now kept Houston scoreless. Luckily, the Texans don’t face the Bills defense every week. The terrible performance by Mills might be enough to get Fantasy managers to waver on Brandin Cooks.

Nick Chubb, RB, Cleveland Browns

Nick Chubb is an amazing player and overall he's been doing pretty good. With most leagues being some form of PPR there are going to be some Fantasy managers who find their first-round pick to be lacking.

Without the touchdowns and having Kareem Hunt nipping away the upside, there are going to be managers who are willing to dump Chubb to get players with upside over players such as Chubb who mainly have a strong floor.

This week may sting the most as many players put up numbers in the high teens and up to 40 points. This buy low mainly pertains to leagues with PPR formats.

Buy High Target

James Robinson, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars

I admit I got this one wrong in Week 3 when I suggested trading away James Robinson. Can you blame me though? Urban Meyer's coaching has been terrible and overall it still is. At the very least he is using James Robinson more.

It's going to be tough to get a player such as Robinson but given how bad the Jaguars are there could be some Fantasy managers who think they are selling at peak value looking to dump. If you have that person in your league, I would be trying to get Robinson off their hands.

Michael Thomas, WR, New Orlean Saints

I am going to get weird with this and metagame a little bit here. We are going into Week 5 and someone in your league is likely holding onto Michael Thomas up until this point. The New Orleans Saints pass attack hasn't been good and Thomas might be enough to change that.

Thomas is by far one of the biggest divas in the league but he is rightfully so because he is one of the best players in the league.

Thomas is QB-proof and has been for a while. Don't let Jameis Winston's poor play deter you.  Thomas's best year included six games with Teddy Bridgewater. In three of those six games, Teddy threw for under 200 yards.

"Thomas is coming off an injury, he's going to start slow". It is very likely that Thomas will start slow but he also played injured in 2020 with Taysom Hill at the helm and still went for eight or more catches and averaged 90 yards per game.

This could be a league-winning trade and the earlier you make it the less it will cost you.

Sell High Player

DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

I will start off by saying that I like DeVonta Smith a lot and he has the potential to be a superstar in the NFL. Today isn't that day though and although he had a good game this week I don't believe Smith or Jalen Hurts are up to the task of setting the league on fire this year.

Hurts is still very much in his rookie season set of games since he only has started in eight full games.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the best matchup a WR could expect to have every week as they have a piss poor defense and put up a ridiculously high amount of points. Making nearly every game they are in into shootouts.

I believe that majority of wide receivers will have their best game this season against the Chiefs and we just likely saw Smith's. Seven catches for 122 yards is a good note to sell high on, sell while you can.

Calvin Ridley, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Let's cut to the chase, Matt Ryan has been terrible this season and so have the Washington Football Team secondary. Calvin Ridley was paid for at a WR1 price and he's not nearly giving you the return. This is the best yardage we have gotten from Ridley all season and it was 80 yards.

Four straight games with soft matchups and Ridley is finishing as a bottom-end WR2. Sell Ridley while he has name value, coming off his best yardage, and is about to face the New York Jets.

Sell Low Players

Robert Woods, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Robert Woods makes it into my article again and this is borderline sell low/sell high. If you haven't seen my last article you can read it here. Woods got his touchdown this past game giving him a little bit more value. I would be moving on at this point, there are much more dynamic weapons on this Ram's offense and I would be pivoting away from Woods if I could.

Miles Sanders RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Miles Sanders has proven to be a talented running back when used. The problem for Sanders and this Eagles team is they don't plan on ever using him. Finishing with 15 total touches over the last two weeks, I would be pivoting away and finding another player. I'd much rather take my chances on the RBBC in Denver with Melvin Gordon or Javonte Williams over the current Eagles situation. If you can get name value on Sanders, I would trade him away while you can.

No issues with the content, but man, y’all need an editor. There’s some really poor grammar and sentence structure in this article.
