2021 Fantasy Football Week 8 Injury Impact

Welcome everyone to the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 8 Injury Impact article. In this article, I will be going over the most impactful injuries that went down this week.

It was not a terrible week for us, but we still lost some fantasy-relevant players for the season, which I will get into later. But first, I need to go over the fantasy stars that didn't suit up in Week 8.

To start things off, Dak Prescott was not able to suit up for Sunday Night Football. Cooper Rush was the signal-caller in his place.

I don't expect Dak to miss any more games, but this is something you will definitely have to monitor in the coming weeks. Antonio Brown (ankle) missed another game with that ankle injury.

This is something that could nag him for the rest of the season, so please pay attention to that.

In other news, Julio Jones (hamstring), Corey Davis (hip), and Jamaal Williams (hip) all missed Week 8, so if you have them on your team you will need to monitor these injuries as well.

That should do it for the introduction, let's jump right into the 2021 Fantasy Football Week 8 Injury Impact article.

Calvin Ridley, WR, Atlanta Falcons - Personal (TBD)

Calvin Ridley is stepping away from football for the time being to focus on his mental health. We wish him the best and hope he can return better and stronger than ever.

Jameis Winston, QB, New Orleans Saints - ACL

It isn't confirmed yet, but coach Sean Payton said the knee injury is significant. It is very possible that Jameis Winston tore his ACL, so please monitor this. Before getting hurt, Jameis Winston was six of ten for 56 yards and one touchdown.

In his place, Trevor Siemian went 16/29 for 159 yards and one touchdown. Surprisingly, Trevor Siemian didn't look too bad and even led the Saints to a victory. Moving forward, I expect the same offense we saw with Jameis Winston.

Alvin Kamara will be heavily involved while the rest of the players fight for the remaining targets. Hopefully, Taysom Hill and Michael Thomas return soon to get this team back to strength. Until then, leave Trevor on the bench.

Robert Tonyan, TE, Green Bay Packers - ACL

Robert Tonyan suffered a serious knee injury during Thursday's game, and it was confirmed that he tore his ACL. Tonyan will be out for the rest of the year.

Before getting hurt, Tonyan caught three of his four targets for 49 yards. Although Robert Tonyan wasn't producing like he was last year, this is still a devastating injury for the Packers. It will be tough to replace Tonyan's ability.

In his place, Joseph Deguara caught both of his targets for 20 yards. Leave him on the waiver wire.

Minor Injuries (Monitor)

Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals - Sprained Ankle

Kyler Murry sprained his ankle on Thursday, and it is something to monitor. It is possible he misses a week, but I don't see that happening. Keep an eye out during the week for more news of this injury.

James Robinson, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars - Bruised Heel (Monitor)

James Robinson (4-22) had to leave Sunday's game with a bruised heel. I don't expect this to be serious, so you can expect him back in your lineups next week.

If he does miss time, Carlos Hyde will carry the workload (15 touches for 72 yards). He might be worth a pick-up if Robinson misses time.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Back Spasms

Once again, Rob Gronkowski's years of playing are taking their toll on him. He had to leave Sunday's game early with back spasms. Please monitor this situation if you have him on your team.

In his place, Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard combined for four catches on seven targets for 33 yards. I would leave Brate and Howard on the waiver wire.

They haven't proven anything while Gronk has been out.

Sam Darnold, QB, Carolina Panthers - Concussion

Sam Darnold left late in the game after taking a shot to the head. He was diagnosed with a concussion and did not return. Before leaving, Darnold was 13 of 24 for 129 yards.

Darnold also gained 66 yards on the ground. I don't expect him to miss time, even though you guys probably aren't starting him anywhere. Something to monitor this week though if you have him.

Other Injuries

Damien Williams, RB, Chicago Bears - Knee

He exited early and never returned. This just means more work for Kahlil Herbert.

Jalen Reagor, WR, Philadelphia Eagles - Ankle

Left the game without making much of an impact. Most of you didn't even have him starting.

Kicker Woes

Chris Boswell, K, Pittsburgh Steelers - Concussion

If you play in a league with kickers, this one is for you. Boswell left the game with a concussion and did not return. If you have him as your kicker, please monitor his status this week or just find a new one on the waiver wire.
