2021 NFL Week 8 Thursday Night Football Prop Bets

Welcome to 2021 NFL Week 8 Thursday Night Football Prop Bets!

The week 7 Byemaggedon is passed, and this week only two teams are on bye, the Ravens and Raiders. Why couldn’t they, I don’t know, spread out bye weeks a little bit more? Guys, I had to start Samaje Perine in a league because my entire bench was on bye or injured. Thankfully, it worked out.

Last Thursday night’s game was low-scoring as expected. I believe the Browns ended up as underdogs going into the game but came out on top 17-14. The fact my hurting Browns pulled off the win against the Broncos made me so happy! They needed it in the tough AFC North, honestly just as much as the Broncos needed it in the harsh AFC West.

D’Ernest Johnson was incredible. I believed in Stefanski’s run game system and it paid off big time. He had 22 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown. Holy moly. Our Broncos props also did well, Teddy B was his usual consistent self (albeit unspectacular) and passed for 2 TDs. Sutton got his five receptions and Gordon his own two, beating their lines. Wish I had added Javonte Williams over 2.5 catches, because he caught six passes! Oh well.

This week we have a juicy matchup between the undefeated Arizona Cardinals hosting the Green Bay Packers. Arizona has Kyler, Hopkins, Green, Ertz, Edmonds, Conner, and more at their disposal. With superstar WR Davante Adams going on the Reserve/Covid-19 list, Green Bay will likely be much more concentrated: Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones. The end. To be fair, Rodgers is one of the greatest QBs of all time and is the reigning NFL MVP. So with him on your side, there’s always a chance.

DraftKings Sportsbook currently has the game at a 50.5 point O/U, with Arizona favored by 6.5 points. Based on some trends listed in the “Fun Facts” section on the DK stats page for this game, I expect this game has a high likelihood to be close and high-scoring. I think it has a good chance to hit the over.

Chase Edmonds – 43.5 Rushing Yards – Over (-115)

James Conner – 45.5 Rushing Yards – Over (-110)

Arizona averages nearly 137 rushing yards a game, good for 5th best in the NFL. Green Bay gives up 121 rushing yards per game, 22nd in the NFL. Edmonds has gone over this rushing line 5 of 7 weeks, and one of those “under” weeks he was dealing with an injury I believe. Connor has rushed for 50 yards or more in 4 of 7 games. Connor’s line is higher than Edmonds, however, with the Packers likely struggling through the air and ground against Arizona, I think he’ll make the over.

Aaron Jones – Anytime Scorer (-120)

The offense just became much more condensed with Davante Adams and Allen Lazard likely out. Jones will be Aaron Rodgers’ main weapon, so he’ll likely have a good chance to get a TD running and receiving, as the betting line also believes.

Zach Ertz – 29.5 Reception Yards – Over (-115)

In Ertz’s first game with the Cardinals, he had 5 targets, 3 catches for 66 yards, and a TD. With the Cardinals abundance of weapons, the Packers can’t afford to focus on Ertz. After his first game with his new team, Ertz himself said “I’ve never seen so much green grass”. His game could have been even better, Murray missed him on a TD earlier in the game. The tight end was important earlier this year in the Cardinals offense with Maxx Williams, and that will continue with Ertz.

Matt Prater – 2.5 PAT’s – Over (-165)

It’s been a while since I did a kicker prop. Think it was all the way back in week 1 actually. Anyway, Arizona is scoring 32.1 points per game this year. In fact, they only have one game under 30 points, back in week 5’s 17-10 game against the 49ers. Prater has kicked at least 4 PAT’s in every other game.

That’s going to do it for our 2021 Week 8 Thursday Night Football Prop Bets. Hoping we’ll see a good game here even with the Packers down a few players. In the end, I think the Cardinals will end up extending their win streak.
