2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Paolo Banchero

Welcome to the first edition of the 2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Player Profiles! We will lead the season off with Paolo Banchero.

With the NBA season now underway, there are a lot of new names in town. Some familiar faces in different places. But we'll get to those soon enough.

Let's have some fun and start with a player that might not be so familiar.

Today our focus lands on Paolo Banchero, the first overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft.

2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Player Profile: Paolo Banchero

Banchero has been as advertised in his first week of games, putting up 20-plus points in each game, and averaging over seven rebounds per game as well. He has immediately stepped into his role as the top-scoring threat on the Magic.

Having quality facilitators is big, with Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs providing him with good looks. Banchero isn't shooting the three-ball as much, but that will come along with time. It makes it all the more impressive that he is putting up these stat lines with only post-work and mid-range shots.

Rest of Season Outlook

Banchero should spend the whole season as the top scoring option for the Magic. With no other serious scoring threats on the team, he should eat based on volume alone.

These first four games are a serious indicator of that. Banchero has taken at least 18 shots in three of the first four games and took 13 shots in the game yesterday, which was still a large percentage of the teams shots.

On an Orlando team that is still in the midst of a rebuild, Banchero will get all the opportunities in the world.

Fantasy Basketball Outlook

If for some reason you have not drafted your teams yet, Banchero will be an early to mid-round selection that could pay off immensely as the year goes on. If you dabble in dynasty basketball, Banchero is a franchise cornerstone to build around. In DFS, he is someone with a high floor thanks to his guaranteed volume.

No matter which way you slice it, Banchero is good for fantasy basketball. His defense is solid as well, with three steals and six blocks through his first four games. These all-around contributions make him a desirable asset for any fantasy team, no matter your style of league.

Stat Projections

23.4 PPG, 4,7 AST, 7.1 REB

48.9 FG% 32.5% 3P

I am banking on positive regression in the shooting department for Banchero, as 18% from three through four games is not enough to go off of. He will continue to score in bunches as the main option in the offense and could get close to averaging a double-double.

To make a long story short, Banchero will be a fun player to watch for the next 10-15 years. If you have him in fantasy, enjoy the ride, If you don't, do what you can to grab him before it's too late.
