2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Week 5 Waiver Wire

Hello Fantasy Basketball Junkies! Welcome to the 2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Week 5 Waiver Wire.

If you want the best waiver wire options, you have arrived at the right place. We will give you a list of free-agent players you need during week 5.

The focus will be on players that are roughly less than 40% owned in Yahoo leagues, with some over 40% that you will need to check your league's availability.

I will keep each waiver wire column focused on new names, only touching on previous players if they are still widely available.

Take a moment to read Mike's Fantasy Basketball Weekly Planner too! He goes over the upcoming NBA schedule and highlights players and teams to target/avoid.

Charles Bassey, PF/C, San Antonio Spurs (12% owned)

Charles Bassey was a per-minute beast for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 14.8 PP36 on 63.8 FG%, 13.3 RP36, 1.1 SP36, and 3.6 BP36. He recently inked a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs and is making the most of it.

With an average of 6.8 PPG on 62.5 FG%, 8.0 RPG, 1.8 APG, and 2.0 BPG in only 15.5 MPG, Charles Bassey is now the 35th-ranked player in nine-category leagues. In week 5, the San Antonio Spurs will play five games, including back-to-backs on Monday and Tuesday and Saturday and Sunday.

Because Zach Collins will be out for two to four weeks, Charles Bassey will be an excellent stream in week 5. Furthermore, due to the Spurs' tight schedule in the upcoming week, Jakob Poeltl may be rested. In this case, Charles Bassey becomes a must-start. He'll be a great fit for teams looking for FG%, Rebounds, and Blocks.

Jeremy Sochan, PF, San Antonio Spurs (6% owned)

In his last four games, Jeremy Sochan had some valuable numbers in Steals and Blocks (1.3 SPG and 0.8 BPG). His minutes are also increasing. If he continues to play in the high-20s, he will be a nice stream in deep leagues.

Because of the San Antonio Spurs' 5-game schedule, Jeremy Sochan will be one of the players we want to target in week 5. He'll be a viable option in some builds, such as the Punt Points setup. Over the last four games, Jeremy Sochan is ranked 79th in Punt Points.

Kenyon Martin Jr., SF/PF, Houston Rockets (25% owned)

Kenyon Martin Jr. has finished inside the top 100 in nine-category leagues over the last seven games, averaging 14.2 PPG on 61.1 FG% shooting, 1.2 3PG, 4.8 RPG, and 1.0 BPG in only 25.7 MPG. The FG% appears unsustainable, but he is still valuable in 14-team leagues or higher.

Houston Rockets is one of the clubs with a four-game schedule in week 5. There may be ups and downs, and Kenyon Martin Jr. may lose some value once Jae-Sean Tate returns. For the time being, add him to deep leagues and hope that his unsustainable shooting continues even with little playing time.

Georges Niang, SF/PF, Philadelphia 76ers (11% owned)

Because of their two-game schedule, the Philadelphia 76ers are a team to avoid in week 5. However, Georges Niang is worth a look if you're in a deep league and need some late-week streaming options.

The Philadelphia 76ers will play just two games next week (a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday). With James Harden still out, Georges Niang has some streaming appeal. If you have an extra move and are seeking three-pointers, consider Georges Niang. He has averaged 3.0 three-pointers over the last seven games.

Here are some players who might also be relevant in the upcoming week:
