2022-23 Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Weekly Planner

Happy holidays everybody! I hope you are all dominating your fantasy hockey leagues, as the week of Christmas is usually looked at as a benchmark as to how the season will pan out. As always, the 2022-23 Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Weekly Planner is here to help you through the holiday season.

Week 11 may be looked back on as the week of milestones as a number of our favorites hit a personal milestone! Erik Karlsson (700 points), Jamie Benn (800 points), Brent Burns (800 points), and Jeff Carter (1,200 NHL games) have all hit a new milestone within the last seven days.

Teams across the league will have three days off in a row. No games will be played on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. Luckily, mostly every fanbase will get to watch their team hit the ice twice as we get through the Christmas break into New Year's weekend! We will see a number of back-to-backs as well. However, your team likely doesn't have the biggest workload this week. (Sorry Pens fans)

I think it's a good time to enjoy some holiday hockey! Let's check out the week ahead in the 2022-23 Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Weekly Planner.

2022-23 Fantasy Hockey Week 12 Weekly Planner

December 24, 2022 - December 30, 2022

Top Targets

Reilly Smith, Left Wing/Right Wing, Vegas Golden Knights (62% Rostered)

The Golden Knights are still working to get themselves back to full strength, but they continue to find success from a core guy. Reilly Smith has been a consistent scorer since being traded to the Golden Knights before their inaugural season. He is the team's go-to guy as of late. Smith lines up with two of his original Knights' teammates William Karlsson and Jonathan Marchessault and is the team's current leading scorer.

With five goals and three assists over his last five games, we recommend adding Smith before your opponent does.

Sam Steel, Center/Left Wing, Minnesota Wild (21% Rostered)

I'm sure Sam Steel isn't the player that they thought would be centering their top line between stars Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello, but here we are! After going through the first part of the season on the team's fourth line, 24-year-old Steel has been moved up the depth chart. He has definitely earned the chance to stay!

Steel has put up one goal and five assists in the last five games, so we recommend keeping an eye on him moving forward. As long as he remains in the middle of Kaprizov and Zuccarello, he is worth the attention.

Dillon Dube, Left Wing/Right Wing, Calgary Flames (16% Rostered)

Since being rewarded with a spot on the team's top line with Elias Lindholm and Tyler Toffoli, Dillon Dube has been all over the score sheet. Over his last four games, we have seen Dube register two goals and five assists. He looks like a rejuvenated player as of late. The Flames are looking to get hot and move up the standings. The resurgence of Dube on the top line is a good reason to keep him in mind when looking for an addition to your lineup.

Injury Alerts

Aleksander Barkov, Center, Florida Panthers

The Panthers look to be without captain Aleksander Barkov for a little while after leaving the game last Saturday. Although the team has listed Barkov as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, he has missed three straight games for the Panthers. The absence of their leader may be costly for the Panthers, who haven't looked sharp as of late. They hope that he returns to the lineup as soon as possible.

Ryan Graves, Defense, New Jersey Devils

Ryan Graves has been a key part of the Devils' success so far throughout the year and is one player that is hopefully back in the lineup sooner rather than later. The 27-year-old defenseman was injured in Wednesday's game against the Panthers. It is unsure how long Graves may be out of the lineup, but the Devils will need to look within in order to find a temporary replacement for Graves.

Jordan Kyrou, Left Wing/Right Wing, St. Louis Blues

After putting home his first career hat trick, the Blues lost Jordan Kyrou due to injury after taking a hard hit from Kyle Burroughs. Kyrou was diagnosed with an upper-body injury. His status has yet to be determined as to how long they could be without their leading scorer. He has missed Tuesday's game against Seattle as of now, but we hope that he returns to the ice very soon.

Team Worth Watching This Week

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins may be the only team that has to play in three games between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, but it looks like it is the perfect week for the Pens to help themselves in the division.

The team currently sits in third place in the Metropolitan Division. Week 12 sees a couple of division rivals that will help their chances. Tuesday, the Pens take on a struggling Islanders team. They then return home on Wednesday to face a Red Wings team that is 3-5-2 in their last ten games. They end their week by welcoming in the Devils, who have also cooled off as of late. Expect the veteran leaders in Pittsburgh to take advantage of the extra game this week to help themselves in the division race!
