2022 College Football Picks

2-2 last week and on the season, the NCAA football betting record improves to 135-93-5.

The data is coming in nicely now on the season, and what this also means is that the markets can usually start to better represent how good each team actually is. Therefore, my volume likely will go down in total number of bets placed. However, it doesn't mean there aren't line discrepancies.

This week should be a fun week in college football with the Red River Showdown between Texas and Oklahoma. The Volunteers head into Death Valley to take on LSU and Auburn will try and keep up with an angry Georgia team Between the Hedges.

It's week 6, so let's dive into some of the best bets I have for Saturday.

2022 College Football Week 6 Picks

Buffalo Bulls @ Bowling Green Falcons

Nothing quite like MACtion. Let's first take a look at Buffalo and their season so far.

To start, the Bulls initially looked bad. . The Bulls lost their starting QB (Kyle Vantrease) to the transfer portal in the offeseaon. Lance Leipold, the extremely successful Bulls coach for some time before the 2021 season is now making waves at Kansas with the Jayhawks. There were a lot of questions about how the season would go.

They opened the season against Maryland and the Terrapins took it to them, 31-10. Well, not totally unexpected. They would surely rebound with a win against an FCS team, the Holy Cross Crusaders, right?

Well, a hail mary beat them. How would they respond? They welcomed Coastal Carolina to Buffalo and they lost at home here too.

That was then, this is now. And upon closer inspection, those losses may not be as bad as the public thinks it is.

Buffalo lost to the Maryland Terrapins, yes, but this is a team that I was quite high on coming into the season. Maryland hung with Michigan and has had a really solid start to the season. They're a lot better than people are giving them credit for with Taulia Tagovailoa at QB and a slew of offensive weapons surrounding him.

They lost to Holy Cross. Well, yes they did. But A) It was a hail mary. and B) Stop underestimating FCS teams. Holy Cross is a top-10 FCS squad and Matthew Sluka is a good QB. Holy Cross would beat multiple FBS programs.

Coastal Carolina is a top team in the Sun Belt, and I think the nation learned the sun belt conference is better than you think with App State beating Texas A&M, Old Dominion beating Virginia Tech, and Georgia Southern beating Nebraska.

The Bulls started to turn things around a bit here recently in a solid W against a decent Eastern Michigan game. There was going to be an acclimation period with the Bulls new QB at the helm and I think they’ve started to gel. Cole Snyder can sling it a little bit, and although the 2-3 record is a shining star, he has an 8:3 TD:INT ratio and has passed for 1200 yards so far this season.

And now they’ll have to travel to Bowling Green. I like Matt McDonald at QB and Jaison Patterson at RB, but BG has is still one of the bottom feeders in the FBS. They lost to Mississippi St and UCLA. Ok, no surprise. But they also lost to An FCS opponent in an epic game with Eastern Kentucky.

They beat Marshall and that win was solid, but playing Akron last week I think their true colors started to show. Akron is a bottom 5 FBS school and Bowling Green isn’t much better. The Bulls are the superior team and for them to open up as underdogs is a mistake. This line has steamed to -2 already. Take the Bulls in this one before it gets to the key number of -3.

The Play: Buffalo -2
