Welcome to the 2022 Dynasty Football Sophomore Profile series. This edition is focused on New York Giants WR Kadarius Toney.

The 2021 NFL Draft had a lot of big names who made their marks as rookies. Ja'Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Elijah Moore were the bigger names who had excellent rookie seasons. Some of the other receivers in that class are just as talented but saw some things not go their way in 2021. Giants WR Kadarius Toney is one of those receivers.

Drafted 20th overall, Toney was criminally underused by the Giants the first three weeks of the season. When Jason Garrett and Joe Judge remembered he existed, Toney had back-to-back brilliant games. The highlight of his season was a 10-catch, 189-yard performance where he routinely cooked "All-Pro" cornerback Trevon Diggs.

Injuries held Toney back the rest of the way, as he only played in 10 total games. The Giants have some new faces in the building, and the hope is that it will lead to offensive improvements from everyone. Toney could be one of the biggest benefactors, and his ceiling is incredibly high.

Toney's rookie campaign was a disappointment, as he could not stay on the field, and when he did the Giants offensive incompetence hurt him as well. Daniel Jones had a brutal season and was not able to find any of his receivers on a consistent basis. Jason Garrett was calling plays like it was the 1990s, and Joe Judge was enabling him the whole way. The outdated methods of calling plays and working as a team were the downfall of the Giants.

Toney was unfortunately caught up in all of the drama. Another problem Toney faced was his antics on and off the field, as he had a fiery temper which saw him get ejected from a game last year. He was even the subject of trade rumors this past offseason, though the Giants kept him. In simple terms, 2021 was a year to forget for Kadarius Toney.

The Giants made some significant changes to their personnel in the offseason. Brian Daboll was hired as the head coach, with Mike Kafka coming on as offensive coordinator. Each coach came from high-powered offenses in Buffalo and Kansas City, respectively.

The addition of Kafka was big for Toney especially, as he coached a dynamic weapon in Tyreek Hill, and wants to turn Toney into a unique weapon for New York. The G-Men also added another skilled WR in rookie Wan'Dale Robinson. In a wide receiver room that already includes Kenny Golladay and Sterling Shepard, there will be no reason for opposing teams to keep all their attention on Toney.

And we can't forget the elite RB Saquon Barkley either, who is a threat that opposing defenses must consider. Toney will have every opportunity in the world to light up the league in 2022.

Kadarius Toney will be given every opportunity in the world to succeed this year. A new head coach and OC, weapons to keep the focus away from him, and health. The Giants have been managing his workload in camp to keep him fresh and healthy for the regular season.

With a better offensive line to help Daniel Jones, that should help Toney get more consistent looks as well. Toney is a WR4 or a WR5 right now, but his upside is so great that he can catapult into WR3 and maybe even back-end WR2 territory. He is a "must own" in fantasy right now, and his price tag is more reasonable than it will ever be again. 2022 will be the Kadarius Toney breakout season. Count on it.
