2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 14 Pitching Planner

Welcome to the 2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 14 Pitching Planner.

The 2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 14 Pitching Planner is here to help all Fantasy Baseball managers make the tough decisions on which pitchers are deserving of making the team.

This week all 37 two-start pitchers are listed and receive a letter grade between A, B, C, D, or F. This ranking is based on the pitcher's previous statistics, and their upcoming opponent as well.

Below the two-start pitchers, 15 additional pitchers are recommended to be Started, Benched, or Streamed. Be sure to grab those streaming options off the waiver wire this week before the opponent does it first.

Two-Start Pitchers

Here's a quick rundown on the rankings.

A: Aces, start without questioning it.

B: Reliable starter but not as dependable as the grade A's.

C: Middle of the pack players. Usually provide decent Fantasy value and can be started.

D: Risky streamers, not trustworthy, but Fantasy managers can start them if necessary.

F: Leave on the waiver wire, unlikely to provide any Fantasy production.

Start 'em

Marco Gonzales (SEA) - at Washington Nationals

Despite a career-low strikeout percentage, Gonzales is turning in another impressive season. He has seven quality starts in his last eight games and has only allowed more than three runs twice this season. Some Fantasy managers, however, do not trust him due to his lack of strikeouts and it shows in his 43% roster percentage. This percentage is low for a pitcher like Gonzales but expect it to rise a little this week.

Fantasy managers should start Gonzales in all Fantasy Baseball lineups against the Nationals, who have scored the fifth-fewest runs this season.

George Kirby (SEA) - at Texas Rangers

Kirby is another Seattle pitcher that has impressed but has a seemingly low roster percentage. The rookie's most impressive stat this year is his slim walk rate of just 3.2%, good for the second-best among all pitchers with at least 60 innings pitched.

Kirby has a tougher matchup than Gonzales this week, but Fantasy managers should still start him in their Fantasy Baseball lineups. The Rangers have the fourth-fewest walks this season, which will play right into Kirby's strengths.

Ross Stripling (TOR) - vs Kansas City Royals

Stripling similarly to Gonzales does not strike out a lot of batters. He still gets the job done, however, and provides solid Fantasy production for most games.

This week he faces off against the Kansas City Royals who currently have the fourth-fewest runs scored. This is an ideal matchup for any pitcher, expect Stripling to have a solid game.

German Marquez (COL) - vs Pittsburgh Pirates

2022 has not been Marquez's season at all. His strikeout rate is a career-low, and his ERA is a career-worst 5.90. Despite, all this he should be starting in every Fantasy Baseball lineup this week due to his matchup against the Pirates who rank in the bottom three for runs scored and OPS.

Bench 'em

Zack Greinke (KC) - at Toronto Blue Jays

The 38-year-old right-handed veteran has mostly been subpar this season and he could be in for more of the same against the Blue Jays this week. The Blue Jays rank top-five in doubles, OPS, and batting average and top-10 in runs and home runs.

Greinke hasn't had his best season by any measures. His strikeout rate (11.6%) is a career-low, and his ERA (4.46) is his highest since 2005. Make sure to sit Greinke this week due to the tough matchup and season struggles.

Nick Pivetta (BOS) - at New York Yankees

Pivetta is a sit this week for two reasons. Firstly, Pivetta will have to face off against the Yankees in back-to-back games and could hurt Fantasy managers in the process. Secondly, he is coming off a bad start in which he allowed seven earned runs against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Pivetta has played the Yankees once this season already. In that game, he allowed two home runs and four earned runs through 5.2 innings. Fans and Fantasy managers might see a similar game this week and it's best to leave him on the bench.

Patrick Sandoval (LAA) - vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Sandoval has enjoyed himself a solid season allowing just a 3.09 ERA across 70 innings. This week could be tough, however, as he has to face the Dodgers in a cross-town rivalry matchup.

One of Sandoval's weaknesses this season is his 10.3% walk rate. This does not fare well against the Dodgers who have earned the second most walks in MLB. Fantasy managers should not risk their week by playing Sandoval, leave him on the bench.

Cristopher Sanchez (PHI) - at Miami Marlins

Sanchez has appeared in seven games this year and started in two of them. His most impressive outing came on July 5th against the Washington Nationals. In that game, he pitched a shutout through five innings and allowed just two hits and two walks.

The Marlins should be a fairly manageable opponent for Sanchez as they rank in the bottom half of the league in runs and OPS.

Max Castillo (TOR) vs Philadelphia Phillies

Castillo comes into the week rostered in less than 1% of Fantasy leagues making him a great streaming candidate. The Blue Jays recalled Castillo and placed Yusei Kikuchi on the injured list. They have yet to name Castillo as the pitcher replacing Kikuchi in the rotation, but the signs point to him getting a start soon.

While Castillo has yet to make a start in the MLB, he has been starting games for Triple-A Buffalo. If the Blue Jays name him a starter, then Fantasy managers should look to him as a streaming option.

Brady Singer (KC) - vs Detroit Tigers

Singer has pitched at least seven innings in two of his last three games. In the one game, he didn't pitch seven innings, he struck out nine over 4.2 innings and only allowed two earned runs. That game was against his same opponent this week, the Detroit Tigers. This is a favorable match-up as the Tigers have scored the fewest runs in MLB.

Despite struggling most of his MLB career, Singer still has some prospect pedigree. These last few games have been positive for him, and he may be starting to turn the corner. This combined with an easier matchup makes Singer worth a stream this week.

Garrett Hill (DET) - at Cleveland Guardians

Hill made his MLB debut on July 4th against the Cleveland Guardians. The rookie pitched six innings, allowing just two hits and one walk for one earned run. He also struck out just three batters.

After a rough outing against the White Sox on the road, his next appearance will come against those same Guardians and he's worth a look in Fantasy Baseball leagues as a streamer.
