2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Pitching Planner

Welcome to the 2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Pitching Planner.

The 2022 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Pitching Planner is here to help all Fantasy Baseball managers make the tough decisions on which pitchers are deserving of making the team.

This week all 28 two-start pitchers are listed and receive a letter grade between A, B, C, D, or F. This ranking is based on the pitcher's previous statistics, and their upcoming opponent as well.

Below the two-start pitchers, an additional 25 pitchers are recommended to be Started, Benched, or Streamed. Be sure to grab those streaming options off the waiver wire this week before the opponent does it first.

Two-Start Pitchers

Here's a quick rundown of the rankings.

A: Aces, start without questioning it.

B: Reliable starter but not as dependable as the grade A's.

C: Middle-of-the-pack players. Usually, provide decent Fantasy value and can be started.

D: Risky streamers, not trustworthy, but Fantasy managers can start them if necessary.

F: Leave on the waiver wire, unlikely to provide any Fantasy production.

Start 'em

Dean Kremer (BAL) - at Washington Nationals

Kremer gets a matchup against the Washington Nationals this week, who have played surprisingly well lately. Over the last 15 days the Nationals are tied with the third best OPS (.799) and tied with the sixth most runs as well.

This is shaping up to be a tougher matchup than anticipated but keep Kremer in Fantasy Baseball lineups.

Michael Wacha (BOS) - vs Kansas City Royals

Wacha, similarly, to Kremer draws a matchup that will be tougher than expected. Over the last 15 days the Royals are top-10 in OPS (.764) and runs.

Despite this tough matchup, Wacha needs to stay in the lineup.

Marcus Stroman (CHC) - vs Colorado Rockies

Stroman has delivered a mixed bag of results this season. He has a 3-6 record with a 3.73 ERA across 108.2 innings. This week, however, he draws a start at home against the Colorado Rockies. In away games the Rockies have the second worst OPS (.629) and are tied with the fewest runs scored.

Even though Stroman has been difficult to start at times, be sure to keep him in the lineup this week.

Lance Lynn (CHW) - at Detroit Tigers

Lynn has played exceptionally well since the start of August and looks to continue it this week. Since August 3, Lynn has made seven starts and recorded a 2.06 ERA and 53 strikeouts across 43.2 innings with a 4-1 record.

Lynn made nine starts before this recent run and recorded a 6.42 ERA and 49 strikeouts across 47.2 innings with a 1-4 record. The veteran righty has successfully turned his season around and is a possible league winner as we get closer to the Fantasy Baseball finals.

Reid Detmers (LAA) - at Cleveland Guardians

Detmers makes his way back into Fantasy Baseball lineups as he's slated to face the Cleveland Guardians on their home turf. The Guardians are one of the worst teams at home this season. They rank in the bottom five for OPS (.670) and runs scored while playing at home. This will bode well for Detmers and he needs to be placed in the starting lineup this week.

Over the last 15 days, the Guardians have the second lowest OPS (.566) and the fewest runs scored in baseball. Just another reason to start Detmers this week.

Bailey Ober (MIN) - at Cleveland Guardians

Ober is set to make another rehab start on Sunday and could be in line to return to the Minnesota Twins rotation this week. The Twins righty has been on the injured list since June and will make an immediate impact when he returns. Whether he returns this week or next, however, is still up in the air.

David Peterson (NYM) - vs Chicago Cubs

Peterson is stepping into the rotation while Max Scherzer recovers from an injury on the injured list. The lefty made three starts recently while filling in for Carlos Carrasco. In these starts, Peterson recorded a 3.38 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 16 innings.

Expect Peterson to continue his impressive ways against the Cubs who have been a bottom-10 offense over the past 15 days.

Kyle Gibson/ Noah Syndergaard (PHI) - at Miami Marlins

Both Gibson and Syndergaard have struggled recently. Gibson allowed a combined 11 earned runs and four strikeouts in just 6.2 innings in his last two starts. Syndergaard allowed a combined eight earned runs and eight strikeouts in 10 innings in his last two starts.

Despite these rough performances from the Phillies starters, Fantasy managers should keep them in the lineup when they face the Marlins. The last time Gibson played the Marlins in Miami he allowed just one run in six innings and earned the win. The last time Syndergaard played the Marlins in Miami he allowed two runs in five innings while receiving the loss.

The Marlins have the lowest OPS (.557) and scored the second-fewest runs in the last 15 games. Start these two pitchers this week.

Bench 'em

Jake Odorizzi (ATL) - vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Braves pushed Odorizzi's start back after he experienced arm fatigue. He is in line to start Sunday, September 11 against the Mariners before his matchup with the Phillies next week.

It's possible this fatigue will last, thus making Odorizzi a risky start this week. Leave him on the bench for a start or two.

Detroit Tigers Rotation

The Tigers have a tough week ahead of them. First, they play the Houston Astros then they face the Chicago White Sox before a matchup against the Baltimore Orioles to end the week. These are all going to be tough matchups and therefore the Tigers rotation can stay on the bench. This includes Eduardo Rodriguez, Matt Manning, Tyler Alexander, Drew Hutchison, and Joey Wentz.

Oakland Athletics Rotation

The Athletics also have a tough week ahead of them. First, they have a two-game series against the Texas Rangers then they face the Astros in a four-game series. Leave Cole Irvin, Adrian Martinez, Ken Waldichuk, JP Sears, and James Kaprielian on the bench.

Jakob Junis (SF) - vs Atlanta Braves

Junis is coming off a quality start against the Milwaukee Brewers but is scheduled to face the Braves this week. The Braves have the best OPS (.815) over the last 15 days. Keep this one simple and leave Junis on the bench.

Stream 'em

Ryne Nelson (ARI) - vs San Diego Padres

Nelson has played just one game in his MLB career so far and it was an impressive one. He threw seven strikeouts in seven shutout innings against the San Diego Padres.

It's still unclear whether the Diamondbacks will give him another turn through the rotation, but if they do, it will come against the same Padres team he dominated in his debut. Stream Nelson in any league he's available.

Wade Miley (CHC) - vs Colorado Rockies

Miley has made one start since returning from the injured list. He faced the Reds on September 6 and allowed two earned runs in four innings but managed six strikeouts. His next game is scheduled for Sunday, September 11 versus the San Francisco Giants then he will face the Colorado Rockies next week.

As mentioned above for Stroman, the Rockies are one of the worst offenses in baseball when on the road. Expect Miley to have a solid game and stream him in Fantasy Baseball.

Roansy Contreras (PIT) - at Cincinnati Reds

Contreras is on a roll lately and it has a good chance of continuing this week against the Reds. Stream Contreras in every league that he's available.

Cole Ragans (TEX) - vs Oakland Athletics

Ragans is back after missing a couple of weeks on the injured list. He had an impressive first game back against the Astros by throwing three no-hit innings and striking out three batters as well. This week he gets an easier matchup against the Athletics who have been one of the worst offenses in baseball all season long.
