Waiver Wire IDP Week 15

Welcome to my 2022 Fantasy Football Week 15 IDP Waiver Wire column!

Week 15, you are either in the quarterfinals or you are in the last game of the regular season, and if you are reading this it is because you must be in the fight. I hope I have helped with that.

One thing before getting started: consider the roster percentage when making a decision. If I recommend a player that has 15% and one that has 1%, it is better that you go for the first option, since the second is in case there are no better options available . My recommendations are about players I expect to exceed their projections based on past performance, matchup and/or opportunity.

So—let´s get started. I will be using Yahoo scoring format of one point for a solo tackle, tackle for a loss, or a pass defended. Also: half a point for tackle assists, and two points for a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a safety or a blocked kick. This scoring format also awards three points for an interception and six for a touchdown.

All roster percentages are also based on Yahoo leagues and I´ll be recommending players 20% rostered or less.

Chandler Jones, DE, Las Vegas Raiders (8% Rostered)

Week 14 Stats: Solo tackle, two assists, sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Chandler has a couple of very good games, racking up a total of six solo tackles, three assists, two tackles for a loss, FOUR SACKS!, a pass defended, a forced fumble and fumble recovery against the Chargers and L.A. Rams. This week he goes against the New England Patriots, a team that until Monday's game, had allowed the fourth-most sacks allowed all season.

Watch his quickness:

Chase Young, DE, Washington Commanders (8% rostered)

Week 14 Stats: Comming back from IR

The expectation is that he will make his debut in week 15 against the New York Giants, a team that allowed six sacks last week against Philadelphia Eagles and three the week before against the same Washington Commanders. Young has not played since last year, he has been recovering from an injury. It is possible that he is in a snap count, so you have to be aware of the reports, but based only on potential it is worth considering him for the final stretch.

Check his first NFL sack, I am sure he´ll be with the same intensity, once he gets into the field:

Logan Ryan, S/CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1% rostered)

Week 14 Stats: Eight solo tackles and an assist.

This veteran was just activated from the IR two weeks ago, and he came full strenght playing 100% of the snaps to reinforce Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. This week he goes against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that has dedicated itself to pass 65% of the plays when they are on the road.

They've also allowed more tackles to defensive backs than league average in the last threes weeks. Keep in mind that last year he was the fifth defensive back with the most solo tackles in the league.

Head coach praises his physical condition, so there should be no trouble on keeping him on the field:

Juan Thornhill, S, Kansas City Chiefs (0% Rostered)

Week 14 Stats: Five solo tackles, two assists, one tackle for a loss, a sack and a pass defended.

The Chiefs free safety suffered a calf injury that sidelined him in Week 12, yet he came back playing 100% of the snaps and putting up solid fantasy points against the Bengals on week 13, and last one also against the Broncos.

Now he visits the Houston Texans, a team that has allowed the third most points to defensive backs over the past five weeks. In addition, the game script dictates that the Texans will come from behind the entire game, they are 14-point underdogs, which will give Thornhill more opportunities to make plays, considering Texans lead the NFL in interceptions thrown.

Watch him get the sack against Russell Wilson:

Alex Anzalone, LB, Detroit Lions (15% Rostered)

Week 14 Stats: Six solo tackles, three assists and a pass defended.

Anzalone is on a five game streak averaging eight fantasy points per game, racking up 26 solo tackles, 12 assists, one tackle for a loss, three pass defended, an interception, a forced fumble and a recovery. This week they visit the New York Jets, a team that has allowed the ninth most tackles to opposing linebackers in the past three weeks.

In the last four games the leading tacklers linebackers against the Jets were as follows: Matt Milano had seven solo tackles, Eric Kendricks nine, Jack Sanborn ten, and Ja'Whaun Bentley had eight. We could expect a pretty decent game.
