Welcome everyone to the 2022 Fantasy Football Week 3 Injury Impact article.

Once again, we had to deal with a bunch of inactive players - Jakobi Meyers, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones. As for the games, there were quite a few scares - multiple star players went in/out of the game throughout the day.

All in all, it looks like we may have gotten away with just a few "impactful" injuries.

Injuries To Monitor

Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings - Dislocated Shoulder (Did Not Return)

Dalvin Cook's shoulder fails him once again. He was taken out of the game with this injury, so this is something you will have to monitor for next week.

It's worth mentioning that Cook has played with this injury before, so it's in the realm of possibilities that he will be ready to go in Week 4. If not, make sure you pick up Alexander Mattison (7-28-1) or have a backup plan in place already.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins - "Back" (Returned to Game)

Uhh!! This was a weird situation. Even the league thinks it was weird, so they are looking into that.

"Apparently" Tua Tagovailoa briefly left the game with a back injury. With the way he acted after the hit, that wasn't a back injury. Honestly, it looked like a concussion and it didn't look good. But whatever, that is not for me to harp on.

I'm not really sure what to make of this other than the fact that Tua Tagovailoa returned to the game and led the Dolphins to a win over the Bills. Whatever the injury was, expect him to ready for Week 4. Those of you who drafted Tua, kudos. It's looking like he could be a steal at QB.

David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears - Ankle (Did Not Return)

David Montgomery (3-11) was forced out of the game early. It looks like a (very) minor injury. This is the good news for Montgomery owners. Unfortunately, there is some bad news that I need to mention.

Did David Montgomery just get one step closer to losing his job?

Kahlil Herbert went bonkers today in his place (30 Fantasy Points). He rushed the ball 20 times for 157 yards (7.9 average) and two touchdowns. Herbert also caught both of his targets for 12 yards. I'm not going to lie, Kahlil Herbert looks like a better fit in this offense. Please try and snag him on the waiver wire, you won't regret it.

Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets - Ribs (Returned to Game)

There was a scare amongst Jets fans on Sunday. Garrett Wilson was forced to the sideline with a rib injury. He did end up returning.

Since he returned and it didn't look like he was grimacing in pain. I fully expect Garrett Wilson to be ready to go for Week 4. As of right now, Wilson has emerged as a solid flex option (10/6- 60). Let's hope that continues.

Michael Thomas, WR, New Orleans Saints - Foot (Did Not Return)

Michael Thomas cannot escape the injury bug. He left Sunday's game with a foot injury and did not return. The Saints have said they will see how he looks in practice, so this is definitely something you will have to monitor.

Don't be surprised if he misses a week, but I wouldn't expect any other missed weeks (from this injury) after that.

Whether he misses time or not, Chris Olave is emerging in this offense and it's something worth noting. Chris Olave was targeted 26 times in the past two games (11/9-147) With that being said, Michael Thomas (14 targets during this time) will take a fantasy hit (a small one).

I still think Michael Thomas is a good fantasy asset (worth starting), but the same can't be said for the guy below.

Jarvis Landry, WR, New Orleans Saints - Ankle (Did Not Return)

Not a good time for Jarvis Landry to get hurt. See above for why (Chris Olave).

As of right now, we don't know the severity of Landry's ankle injury, so you will have to monitor this throughout the week. Either way, Landry should not be started and with the emergence of Olave, he might be droppable in shallow leagues.

Mac Jones, QB, New England Patriots - Ankle Sprain (1 week+)

That should do it for the 2022 Fantasy Football Week 3 Injury Impact article.
