2022 Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire

We had ourselves a weird week with tons of injuries and old faces in new places in Week 7. As we look forward to Week 8, a handful of interesting players who could bolster your rosters are out there.

This article will look at some of the best available players on the 2022 Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire. If you do not already, feel free to follow me on Twitter (@HermsNFL).

I was damn near perfect with my calls in this week's waiver wire stashes article, a weekly series published on Saturdays. Some of these players were part of that piece, so in the future, make sure you always check that out to get ahead of the curve. But for now, let's look at some of the best waiver wire pickups ahead of NFL Week 8.

Top Waiver Adds

Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens (43% rostered Yahoo / 16.1% rostered ESPN)

We open this article with the beautiful sound of a broken record. I've written about Edwards in this weekly column behind the paywall numerous times, in addition to his inclusion in my weekend waiver stashes article on Saturday. Starting running back J.K. Dobbins will miss four-to-six weeks following a knee procedure, and in Baltimore's first game following that news, Edwards stepped up with a top-ten fantasy performance in Week 7.

Unfortunately, I was too hesitant to recommend starting him in Week 7 (apologies for the 0.5 points you got from Kenyan Drake), but you should have already picked him up at minimum! Last we saw a healthy Gus Edwards, he finished as the RB37 overall in PPR scoring in 2020 in a timeshare with Dobbins. Now poised to be the leader of the Ravens backfield, Edwards will be within RB2 consideration on a weekly basis.

Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams (31% rostered Yahoo / 8.4% rostered ESPN)

Stop me if this one sounds familiar too. Considering I mentioned it in this weekend's stashes article and the standard edition of the waiver wire column last week, it should. We still don't know what the Rams are going to do with Cam Akers as the "will they/won't they" trade situation wages on. However, we know there is opportunity behind Darrell Henderson Jr. in that backfield.

We know the Rams coaching staff really likes Williams, and he showed a penchant for pass-catching in college. Take a shot on Williams as a PPR flyer.

Wan'Dale Robinson, WR, New York Giants (29% rostered Yahoo / 13.8% rostered ESPN)

The Giants' rookie wideout returned from injury in Week 6, and so far, he's been pretty darn good, posting 11.9 PPR points per game. As long as Robinson continues to see work as the primary slot receiver, he'll warrant flex consideration week-to-week. Prior to his return, the Giants' offense almost exclusively funneled through running back Saquon Barkley, so Robinson's presence is certainly welcomed if not necessary.

D'Onta Foreman, RB, Carolina Panthers (50% rostered Yahoo / 35.3% rostered ESPN)
Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers (36% rostered Yahoo / 25.8% rostered ESPN)

Following the trade of Christian McCaffrey, one of these two players figured to be fantasy relevant in Carolina. I had initially anticipated Foreman being the primary beneficiary of the trade, but Week 7 saw both Foreman and Hubbard produce, making for a relatively ambiguous situation. Regardless of how the Panthers choose to split the workload going forward, it is important to remember that this team is not very good. Take a chance on one of these guys, and hope for the best that you maybe have a weekly flex/bye week filler.
