Importance of Batting Order Position

Welcome to the 2022 MLB DFS Opening Day Stacks post! Are you looking for Friday's (4-8-22) MLB DFS Stacks?

We made it y'all! We survived the lockout and every day between now and Sunday, Oct. 2, we get to watch baseball! Well, almost every day.

The New York Yankees are hosting the Boston Red Sox for the official first pitch of the season, but that game and the Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs game are not a part of the first main slate of the year on DraftKings. FanDuel will include Corbin Burnes and Kyle Hendricks at Wrigley Field.

4/6 Update - we have our first postponed games of the season and we haven't even started yet! The Yankees/Red Sox and Mariners/Twins games have been postponed due to weather.

I am publishing this article a day early and lineups have not been released. If a player listed below gets scratched, I will provide an update.

I avoided teams facing Robbie Ray (@ Twins), Shane Bieber (@ Royals), Max Fried (vs Reds), Shohei Ohtani (vs Astros) and Yu Darvish (@ Dbacks). Them, along with Adam Wainwright (vs Pirates), are the starting pitchers to target on Opening Day.

New York Mets vs Patrick Corbin (LHP)

Starling Marte
Pete Alonso
J.D. Davis

The Mets had some success against Corbin last year. Early in the year, they scored four runs in four innings thanks to home runs by Pete Alonso and J.D. Davis. In their next matchup, Alonso hit a solo home run and in September, Alonso hit a solo shot and drove in Francisco Lindor with an RBI single.

With Starling Marte being added to Lindor at the top of the lineup, there should be plenty of runners on base for the heart of the Mets lineup, no matter the opposing pitcher.

Patrick Corbin had a bad first half (5.40 ERA) to start the 2021 MLB season and things only got worse after the All-Star Game. Corbin owned a 6.32 ERA in the second half.

Opponents slashed .300/.375/.547 against Corbin with runners in scoring position last year.

Patrick Corbin allowed 16 home runs with runners on base, which was the worst in all of baseball!

St. Louis Cardinals vs JT Brubaker (RHP)

Nolan Arenado

No offense to Brubaker but he is easily the worst opening day starter on the main slate. In four starts last year against St. Louis, Brubaker allowed 16 earned runs over 21.2 innings (6.65 ERA). All three of the Cardinals bats listed above homered off Brubaker. Nolan Arenado has four doubles and a home run off the Pirates' "ace."

Fun fact - the Cardinals do not have one lefty bat in their lineup! Dylan Carlson and Tommy Edman are both switch hitters at the top and bottom of their order. Corey Dickerson and Lars Nootbaar are available off the bench.

San Diego Padres vs Madison Bumgarner (LHP)

Manny Machado
Luke Voit
Wil Myers

Stack San Diego's righties against the veteran left-hander. Manny Machado and Wil Myers have combined for nine home runs off Madison Bumgarner. Also this is what a Luke Voit home run looks like in a Padres uniform!
