That US Open was one of the better majors of the year, was it not? Hopefully, my 2022 PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Prop Bets Picks can make us as happy as the US Open was riveting.
And I would have been a lot happier financially had Will Zalatoris won, but I still did OK last weekend. The question is how should we account for my "make the cut parlay" with Abraham Ancer WD before the tournament started, thereby voiding that piece of it. I think we count it as costing us half a unit and move on. If you think I should count it more or less, let me know. Or just adjust my ledger accordingly, which now looks like this:
- Balance Coming Into Last Week: +14.73 Units
- Units Wagered on US Open: 2.75 Units
- Units Won (gross winnings): 3.1 Units
- Net Profit YTD: +15.08 Units
The tour heads to Cromwell, CT for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands, which happens to be one of the shorter courses on tour. This is a great week to bet on some of the shorter hitters on tour. However, be aware that this is a surprisingly heavy field, so don't be surprised if the chalk wins this one.
I personally will be mixing it up between chalk, mid-tier, and some long shots. I will also be making some "ladder bets" this week. It is something I've done plenty of times, but I've never recommended it in this space before. There's a first time for everything!
So let's kick off the 2022 PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Prop Bets Picks with those ladder bets.
2022 PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Prop Bets Picks
Xander Schauffele and Davis Riley Ladder Bets: Winner (Quarter Unit); Top Five (Half Unit); Top Ten (Three-Quarter Unit)
So betting on these two golfers will cost us a total of 3 units. But as we go "up the ladder" in how well they finish, we reduce the amount we are betting. So we are risking less for the higher payouts and risking more for the lower payouts. It's more or less a way to "balance" your bet. And I like the value we are getting, especially if we bet these bets across the two different sites, FanDuel and DraftKings.
FanDuel has better payouts on Schauffele for all three spots, but DraftKings has better payouts for Riley on two of our three "rung"s. The payout listed below is whichever is higher. Got it? But here's why I like each of these golfers.
Xander Schauffle (+2100 to win; +440 Top 5; +210 Top 10)
The "X-man" has played this tournament here three times and finished twice in the top 20. He also has five Top 20s in a row, including two top-5 finishes, coming into this tournament.
Live Travelers Championship Odds:
-Rory McIlroy: +325
-Xander Schauffele: +700
-Bryson DeChambeau: +750
-Viktor Hovland: +900
-Jon Rahm: +1600
-Mackenzie Hughes: +1600pic.twitter.com/RNPdjrYt2k

But I think he breaks at least into the top ten this week. He's 12th in SG: Approaching the Green, which my compadre Tyler Mulligan already discussed how important that is this week. And three of the golfers above him in that stat will not be in this tournament. We can't say this too often about Schauffele, but his value this week is surprisingly high.
Davis Riley (+4000 to win; +850 Top 5: +400 Top 10)
Truth be told, I don't think Riley wins this week. But I wouldn't forgive myself if he did and I wasn't holding that ticket. And I do think he can crack the top ten, which would automatically provide a profit on both of these ladder bets. In his last seven starts, he has four top 10s. At 4-to-1 odds, I'll gladly take that!
FanDuel Golf Specials 3 (+1300): Any 3 of Sam Burns, Keegan Bradley, Joaquin Niemann, or Jordan Spieth To Finish Top Ten - Quarter Unit
Frankly, the value on this bet could be higher. But I'm betting just a quarter unit on this, and I like the odds of this hitting. Any one of these golfers could finish in the top ten this week, and since we just need 75% of them to do so, at +1300, I'm willing to take that risk.
I'd love to see Spieth coming into this tournament playing a little better. Yet he's still currently 11th in both the OWGR (Overall World Golf Ranking) and the FedEx Rankings. He's also won this tournament here before, so a top 10 is not unreasonable. Keegan Bradley meanwhile has four Top 10s in his last six tournaments. The native New Englander had a T-2 here as recently as 2019, and I like him to finish near that again this week. That very same week at the Travelers, Niemann finished T-5. Niemann finished just T-47 at the US Open last week but notched a strong T-3 at the Memorial his previous tournament. That was his fourth top 10 finish this year.
I like all three of those golfers to finish in the top 10, but Burns is probably the likeliest of the four. Burns has finished progressively better at the Travelers the three times he has played it in his young career, including the most recent T-13. A top 10 finish would be a natural continuation of that trend. But far better reasons to like him this week than a historic trend. He's currently 2nd in the FedEx Rankings and 9th in the OWGR. That is helped fueled by his eight top tens already this year, including five in his last ten tournaments. Add in a strong statistical profile of 16th in Putting and 4th in Shots Gained Approaching the Green, and you might want to also bet on him alone to finish in the top 10!

Brian Harman Top 30 Finish (+100) - One Unit
Remember when I said this is a great week to take some of the shorter hitters on Tour? Enter Brian Harman who is an eye-scalding 179th in Driving Distance. But he's also 12th in Driving Accuracy, along with a respectable 46th in SG: Putting.
This week should be a birdie fest, but Harman has a knack for eagles:

Will he make an eagle this week? I don't know. But I do know he has four top tens in his last seven times playing this course, including a T-5 last year. A top 30 here at even money? Definitely worth a wager.
That will do it for the 2022 PGA Tour: Travelers Championship Prop Bets Picks. For those scoring at home, I'm wagering 4.25 units total this week. However, I will likely make some additional bets as the week progresses, so follow me on Twitter and feel free to ask any questions. In the meantime, good luck with your bets, and let's get that green!
