2022 Wimbledon Picks

It is officially Wimbledon season, and I am excited to break down my tournament winners! For those who don't remember me, my name is Cody aka @DProdiogy and this Wimbledon tourney is different than the others.

For those who are new to Wimbledon, it is located in London, England. Wimbledon is a grass court surface and the soil underneath the grass determines how the ball is affected. The ball will bounce faster when it is warmer and based on the weather the week of the tournament, we will get a mixture of weather. The tournament officially kicks off on June 27th.

One of the biggest changes to this year's tournament is players won't accrue points for their rankings. So in return, a lot of highly touted players aren't traveling to play in Wimbledon.

Another big change is the scheduling involved in the tournament. Players will not receive a break in the first week and second week, which is known as "Middle Sunday." Stamina will be something to look at now in the tournament going into the later rounds.

Last but not least, because of the ranking points stated above not accruing to players, Russian and Belarusian players will be banned from the tournaments. It is crazy times in the tennis world but let's get into my players on who I am liking to win!

2022 Wimbledon Picks

Novak Djokovic -125

How can you not automatically lock in Novak to win this tournament with ease? The grass court king holds reigns as the defending champ and he has not lost on grass since 2018.  Let that sync in.

Novak is purely an unstoppable force and Wimbledon is where he holds true to the king of tennis status. Novak has won this tournament an immaculate six times!

Matteo Berrettini +600

Matteo has a great grass court record.  Djokovic defeated Barrettini in the Wimbledon finals last year and I think Matteo has only gotten better on the grass since then. The serve has improved and with the conditions of the court, the power will show, and the tricky play will make him a candidate to take down Novak Djokovic as king.

Nick Kyrgios +2000

The wildest man in the ATP circuit is Nick Kyrgios. The mental game for him has been the most challenging aspect of his game to understand.  One day he is on fire then the next he is hard to trust.

Kyrgios has reached the semi-finals in the past three tournaments and mentally he has kept himself in check. He has yet to lose to Novak Djokovic in two head-to-head matchups. Djokovic is the favorite to win Wimbledon and with the streaky tools Kyrgios can bring to the table, he might be the only one who can take down Djokovic!

Iga Swiatek +150

Iga Swiatek has been a monster this year that no one at all saw coming. The tennis world knew she was good but not this good!

The grass court isn't her specialty but the swagger and confidence she brings to the table are fantastic. Opponents' mental game slows down when they are in line to play Iga which makes Iga an even stronger opponent in her matches.

People will look at last Wimbledon and see her loss in the round of 16, but that was last year. This version of Iga is powerful and very hard to stop.

Serena Williams +1800

The queen of tennis is back after retiring in 2021 and we are getting amazing odds on her. Serena at +1600 odds is something we have never seen before. No one wants to face Serana and I can't wait to watch her play.

Serena is a seven-time champion at Wimbledon and the skills are there for her. The forehand is an unstoppable force to deal with and the serve is faster than anyone on the Women's side of the tourney.

Serena may be a wildcard and not seeded in this tourney, but we will take a stab at the amazing plus odds on Serena.
