2022-23 Fantasy Basketball Weekly Planner

We're nearing the end of this week's matchups, the earliest point when most leagues end playoffs. Whether you're shooting for next week or a championship win, adding knowledge through the 2023-24 Fantasy Basketball Week 22 Planner will help.

Week 22 features many teams playing four games, the most for that week. However, these games fall on the busiest slates of 10 games or more. The Nets, Rockets, Knicks, Jazz, Cavaliers, Bulls, 76ers, Clippers, Nuggets, Hornets, and Wizards fall into this category, playing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

This week will feature an unbalanced schedule with more three-game teams than those with four games. Additionally, two teams will only play two games. However, some players are performing well and have a full schedule, but aren't being started enough based on their recent performance.

Week 22 marks the semifinal week in many standard fantasy basketball playoffs. Teams out of NBA playoff contention are using unusual rotations. Meanwhile, teams aiming for the postseason are dealing with injuries. Cleveland, currently third in the Eastern Conference, is missing three starters: Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and Evan Mobley. This week's fantasy basketball schedule breakdown starts with Cleveland's situation.

When will the starting Cavaliers players who are injured return?

The Cavaliers had one of the stronger schedules in fantasy leagues that run their playoffs between Weeks 21 and 23. In those three weeks, Cleveland was one of four teams playing four games, but if the team isn't healthy, it doesn't matter.

Max Strus (knee), Evan Mobley (ankle), and Donovan Mitchell (nose) are all out due to injury, while Mitchell is also struggling with a persistent knee problem. That has not only hurt the Cavs in terms of their standing in the East but has also caused problems for them in terms of fantasy basketball.

Mobley is classified as doubtful for the Cavaliers' game against Miami on March 24 (today). If cleared to play, it shall be his first action since March 5. In addition to reserve Dean Wade (knee), Mitchell and Strus have already been ruled out of Cleveland's Week 21 finale.

Cleveland's four-game schedule in Week 22—which starts on Monday against Charlotte—will keep guys like Sam Merrill, Caris LeVert, Georges Niang, and Isaac Okoro in the fantasy mix.

Week 22 concludes with games for nineteen teams on Friday and Sunday.

Including Orlando, which has a Friday/Saturday back-to-back, two-thirds of the NBA will play two games over the final three days of Week 22.

San Antonio, Utah, and Washington, teams playing on Friday and Sunday with no hope of reaching the postseason, might have "injury management" days for some of their key players. Washington may continue to make Kyle Kuzma available for every game. Utah has already rested Lauri Markkanen and John Collins for injury management, raising questions about Victor Wembanyama's status in San Antonio.

With most of the 20 teams playing two games in three days to end Week 22 having four games on their schedule, fantasy managers might still get three games out of players with "rest day" concerns.

After Friday, the Pistons, Pacers, Suns, and Trail Blazers lose value.

Detroit, Indiana, Phoenix, and Portland all have three-game weeks ending on Friday, offering limited value for managers needing production at Week 22's end. However, Detroit and Portland rosters have players potentially worth the risk due to injuries. James Wiseman, Duop Reath, and Jabari Walker are widely available in fantasy leagues and could be worth the risk despite the suboptimal game schedules.

Injuries to Jalen Duren (Detroit) and Deandre Ayton (Portland) have opened up minutes and opportunities for other players. Neither team has a strong incentive to rush their established players back into action.

Another key point to monitor before Week 22 is the status of Blazers guard Anfernee Simons, who injured his knee in a March 22 game against the Clippers. The results of his MRI should be known by the start of Week 22. A prolonged absence would increase the value of Scoot Henderson and Dalano Banton, despite Henderson's inefficiency for much of his rookie season.
