Grayson Allen, SG/SF, Phoenix Suns (29% owned)

Grayson Allen is back on our radar for the third straight week. Last time, I may have jinxed him a bit. Just when he was poised for a great fantasy week, Bradley Beal returned, and Allen was benched with an injury. But this week, Allen is shaping up to be a solid pick for fantasy managers once more.

In his last outing against the New York Knicks, Allen returned strong, logging substantial minutes and racking up 13 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block, and 2 threes. He's now sitting comfortably within the top 100 in nine-category leagues.

With Bradley Beal sidelined again due to an ankle injury, Allen's value in standard leagues is on the rise. Week 9's schedule might seem lackluster for the Phoenix Suns at first glance, with only two games. However, their games fall on less busy days, Tuesday and Friday, which is actually ideal.

Leveraging this can give you a competitive edge next week. Remember, Week 9 is shorter, spanning just six days, so plan your strategy accordingly. If Allen is available in your league, snap him up. He's not just a Week 9 pick; hold onto him at least until Bradley Beal's return. Here's hoping my endorsement doesn't jinx him again, or I might really be a fantasy curse!

Brandin Podziemski, SG, Golden State Warriors (33% owned)

Brandin Podziemski is emerging as a Golden State Warriors savior, stepping up in Draymond Green's absence and Andrew Wiggins' struggles. Recently, he's been a fantasy standout, delivering 9th-round value in nine-category leagues with an impressive average of 13.8 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 4.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, and 1.8 3PG over his last four games.

Looking at Week 9, the Warriors have three games, but they're strategically placed on less crowded days (Tuesday and Friday), including a back-to-back against the Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers.

This setup makes Podziemski a top pick for streaming this week. Given Draymond Green's uncertain return, holding onto Podziemski could be a smart move beyond just this week. Don't hesitate to pick up this 19th overall 2023 NBA draft pick from Santa Clara. You might just discover a hidden gem for your roster, just like coach Steve Kerr did.

Derrick Jones Jr., SF, Dallas Mavericks (12% owned)

Derrick Jones Jr. lands on our Week 9 Waiver Wire list again, despite a twist of fate last week. Right after we pegged him as a top add due to increased opportunities, he unfortunately suffered a right quad contusion. This led to him missing a game and delivering only one strong performance in Week 8.

However, we're not giving up on him, especially since Kyrie Irving and Josh Green are still out.

In his recent clash with the Portland Trail Blazers, Jones Jr. shone brightly. He racked up 18 points, complemented by a rebound, four assists, two steals, and two threes, shooting an impressive 54.5 FG% and 80.0 FT%. Over his past 8 games, he's been delivering 6th round value in nine-category leagues, thanks to his solid averages: 13.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 1.1 APG, along with impressive defensive stats of 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG, and an elite 2.1 3PG.

His minutes are on the rise, and his usage rate soars from 13.8 to 21.14 when Irving is off the court. Looking ahead to Week 9, the Dallas Mavericks have a packed schedule with four games. They face tough opponents like the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets, before a showdown with the San Antonio Spurs. Moreover, they have a beneficial 3-game run within 4 nights, perfect for strategic streaming.

With Irving potentially sidelined for two or more games and Green out for at least three, now's the time to snag Derrick Jones Jr., especially if you're in a deep league. We're crossing our fingers for his health, as he offers much more than just threes, steals, and blocks in standard leagues. Hold onto him at least until Irving and Green are back in action.

Kevin Love, PF/C, Miami Heat  (26% owned)

Kevin Love is defying time, showcasing a resurgence few predicted. The 35-year-old has been a revelation, delivering 4th round value in nine-category leagues over his last 5 games.

He's averaging a robust 14.8 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, and 1.2 SPG, alongside a remarkable 3.4 3PG. His shooting efficiency is also noteworthy, with a solid 49.1 FG%. Just when it seemed like Orlando Robinson was poised for a breakout season, Love stepped up, seizing the opportunity created in Adebayo's absence.

The Miami Heat's Week 9 schedule isn't ideal, featuring only three games, including challenging matchups against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic on Monday and Wednesday, followed by a less crowded Friday game against the Atlanta Hawks.

However, with Bam Adebayo's return date still uncertain, Love emerges as a compelling addition for Week 9. Keep an eye on the latest updates, and if Love is available, consider grabbing him and holding on at least until Adebayo's return.
